Let's Show Some Kindness

Coker had too many chances as it was. Four times he failed a test, obviously a complete idiot would only continue doing something he knows is going to jeopardize his playing opportunity, his education, and the possibility of having a NFL career one day. I dont feel one bit sorry for him, they gave him plenty of chances.

only a complete idiot? Ive seen phd's, ceo's, business owners, multi-millionares, etc all brought down by addiction. when you point a finger at someone there are three more pointing back at you.

WOW...that's a cliche I've never heard before...<eyeroll>

Just if anyone really cares:

LaMarcus Coker Career Stats:

Games: 18
Carries: 153
Yards: 865
TDs: 6

Just about 700 yards short of even coming near the Top 25 rushers in Tennessee history.

If you're going to question his ability and talent than save it. His production was a result of the same thing that got him kicked off the team. Had he been out of the doghouse, he would've been a star.

Ceo, business owners, etc dont get drug tested and under drug counseling on a regular basis. Its like a misbehaving kid that the parents just keep tellin to stop and not doing a thing.

You think people need to worry about CEOs and business owners smoking weed?? is rex kidding?

This is about Coker choicesn not the CEOs and so ons of the world. They are idiots if they made that choice. Why jeopardized it. Coker made the decision to do just that. Are we to assume he made them without knowing the consequences. I do not think we are all idiots at time. We all make unwise decisions, immature, selfish and without consideration of others. How many other players do we think are running under the Radar at this time. They are kids and we have all lower our standards.

He made a choice and should be punished. He is no idiot just immature selfish and dumb. After all he made the choice.

Its all cool man :)

I just can't figure out why we should "show him kindness." We showed him kindness when we offered him a full ride to play for 4 years in an NFL pipeline. He let down not only himself, but all of his teammates. The University is showing him more kindness than he deserves by letting him stay in school. I wish him well, but he really hurt the school and his team.

AGREED:rock:

when you're young sometimes you just make mistakes.....just ask Bush (1 DWI) & Cheney (2 DWIs).

That is another ball game.............. Do not mix Politics and Sports..............Both of those idiots definitely should have known better. I did say Idiots..............The fortunate thing is that they have not had one while in office...................but look at their decisions as straight people.................laughable.

a man much wiser than me once said 'let all who haven't committed sin cast the first stone.'

What He ACTUALLY said was "Let he that is AMONG YOU without sin, cast the first stone." Jesus made that statement because being sinless himself, only He had the right to stone her. But He didn't.

:clapping:

Where did I question anything. Just stating facts. I really appreciate you holding my hand and telling me what I should think before I didn't have a thought about it.

and drive home.

which is definitely much worse than smoking marijuana and doing pretty much anything.

I understand the policy, and i understand it is illegal, but it really isnt that much different than alcohol, it is just that alcohol is more socially accepted, and it is impossible to make illegal (the government tried and failed).

So stop acting like you are so much better than Coker.

Actually having experience raising three boys and the pros and cons, they were not and still are not perfect. I just feel Marcus let the partying get the best of him and he has let his family, his team, and most of all himself down.I feel bad that he couldn't control his partying, addiction to weed, but as a parent of kids his age, I am equally upset/ mad at him for not taking care of business. I do wish him well just really disappointed in him. Hopefully he learns from this. To be honest, I'm not sure even if all of my boys could follow the same rules, maybe 1 or 2 of them, maybe, not but not all three. That's just the college life the way I understand it.

It's amazing the sense off entitlement people feel to have athletes entertain them for free.

GAVOL, Are you joking? It's the athletes that get the "entitlement". How in the hell does someone get 4 chances to repeat the same mistake?

He should have been gone after the first strike. A strong coach would have set an better example for the players and for future recruits. This lack of discipline reminds me of the "summer of 2005" when (it seemed) most of our team was in jail.

:eek:hmy:

"This lack of discipline"

This team's problem may all be about discipline. Even the team responded today. Maybe they want to see players who behave like Coker disciplined. If so, we've got hope for the future.

Discipline may be the only thing CPF needs to improve, but in that area he could have a tremendously positive influence on these players. It's a shame he didn't do that in time to help Coker.

Coker failed the Vols, but the lack of discipline in the past is what failed him.

The team looked awesome today!! And, you've got to love that 4th quarter future we saw as well.

Discipline can get us back to the NC within a year or two with the talent we already have!

GO VOLS!!!
