There could be some debate....

Peyton Manning: 97 SEC championship

Tee Martin: 98 SEC champ. and National champion

If the standard is going to be team accomplishments instead of individual excellence, about 15 of the 22 starters are going to be from the '98 team.

No debate. Manning is the QB.

I'll take Reveiz at the kicking position.

Oh, while I'm at it, a few quickies that come to mind:

Henry at TB.
Receivers, hmm. . . .Kent, Price
Witten at TE.
OL: Coleman, Galbreath
Hutton punting, or maybe Jimmy Colquitt.
Reggie White and Big Bad John at D-tackle.
Dale Carter and Deon Grant in the secondary.

UT has had probably 10 centers better than Scott Wells. Bruce Wilkerson and Tim Irwin are better than either tackle you list. Doug Atkins is the best defensive player ever at UT. Jack Reynolds, Steve Kiner, Paul Naumoff, Keith Delong, and about 20 other guys are better linebackers than Kevin Burnett. Anthony Hancock, Tim McGee, and Peerless Price were all superior to Willie Gault as receivers. All that said, your list is close to what mine would look like.

kevin burnett was good but not THAT good. Andy Spiva deserves his spot. Your offensive line is debateable too. Stanley Morgan was better as a halfback than a receiver. Special teams looks ok...

I'm not sold on Jamal Lewis as the best RB either when you have guys like Chuck Webb, Tony Thompson, Johnny Majors, Charlie Garner, James Stewart, and so on

With the exception of Webb, comparing those guys to Jam is like comparing Mr. Ed to Secretariat. It's an insult to Lewis for anyone to insinuate those guys are in his class.

How many African American players did Majors play against? Simple rule of thumb I use: If a player played in the era of segregation in Southern college football and failed to go on to NFL success, you can chalk their success up to institutional racism.

Guys i know it goes way back but the best set of hands at WR has to be Larry Sievers. I was just a kid when he played but my dad still says he is the best WR UT has ever had. :twocents:

There's nothing wrong with way back! Sievers was a great. I think the list should probably include room for 4 wide outs. Just too many to narrow to two.

I don't know enough of the history of OL from UTK and I know we have produced some very good ones. So, due to not wanting to leave someone out who should be on there I am going to refrain from listing OL.

Joey Kent is to Carl Pickens as Eric Roberts is to Robert De Niro.
