Let's just be honest for a minute...

Some of you can't get through your thick skulls that we went from the bubble to a meaningless NIT team. Martin would have declined the invite if he could, but he had to to take it.

Tonight's loss means absolutely nothing.

I've been supportive of Martin and understanding of the hit we took with Maymon. But, our performance in the last couple of games is inexcusable. We need to win early and often next year.

Oh, and the guys using this performance as a basis for why we shouldn't have made the tournament need to just stop...

Looking at you Dools.

Typical response from someone after losing a game , it didn't matter so so I don't care. losers anthem ... I don't care if it's a game of checkers, the boosters are bankrolling his salary and he needs to start earning it or GTFO!
Let's be honest...it's the freakin' NIT. NOBODY cares about it.

Either you can coach and win or you can motivate and win. Which does Conzo do we'll enough to win? You have your answer.

This.

It's absolutely retarded to act like tonight proved we didn't deserve a bid.

You would think people wouldn't evaluate a team's worthiness based on a performance in a meaningless, second-tier tournament, but to each his own I guess. And by that I mean they are all wrong. Haha.

I think we can all lay that one on the defense, the martin bromance is way strong with some of you people. as with Dooley when reality hit Ut finally did the right thing.
Yes, and it football we'd have won if we had just scored more touchdowns.

If we're being honest he isn't horrible. He's decent but he's just not a big time cbb coach as of right now. If he had followed buzz there we wouldn't be having this conversation. But he didn't follow buzz..he followed pearl. And pearl was no doubt a big time coach.

I disagree. When you consider the hands he's been dealt so far and what he's done with them, there's just no way. People here are far too unrealistic as far as expectations, it's just how this fanbase is. Guarantee after we get fisted game after game this upcoming football season in which we struggle to 6 wins(which is realistic), people will be calling for Jones' head.

We're in no position to be firing coaches and Martin's doing everything right as far as Cheek is concerned.

I agree if he can't win/get us to the tournament next year then he's not our guy. Regardless, I don't see him gone after next season either.
Sounds like the same BS we were handed about Dooley. Was that one of your post as well. Almost verbatim to what was being said about Dooley. When we finally found out what he was like and did to our program all the rats ran off the ship.

I hate relating Martin to Dooley. It doesn't really apply.

I hated the Dooley hire, got talked into it, then wanted him fired after the Kentucky loss. Just for the record.

It's the inconsistency that kills me. Is this the same team that beat Florida and Mizzou and won 9/10 last games? It's been said a million times, but we play down to our competition.

Please go ahead and change your user name... it's a bad vibe man.

Well, Dooley inherited probably the worst UT roster in my lifetime. Don't think that can be denied. But his best coaching job was that first year. Then it went all downhill. He was given 3 years and it got worse. Martin is going to be given at least 3 years. But these past two basketball seasons, while a little disappointing, can't be compared to Dooley's last two years.

That is exactly what I am saying win no matter what or put forth the effort. those guys getting a free education and that staff making all that money should try and win any and every time they compete for the Big orange.

Gah Tennessee has the worst basketball fans. We aren't a basketball powerhouse, this isn't north Carolina, we won 20 gms and by a lot of people's opinions got snubbed in the draft. We will be a fixture in the top 25 next year and then all the people complaining can shut up

I'm not the biggest CCM fan but i don't blame him for tonight. It would have been hard for anyone to get the players hyped and excited to play tonight after being disappointed earlier in the week.

We didn't get snubbed apparently they see things without the orange glasses on. they could see the lack of effort and heart. unless tennessee shoots better than 40 percent from three we suck.

I simply don't understand how quickly many of you forget (or fail to acknowledge) just how amazing last season was- to finish 2nd under those circumstances was absolutely outstanding. In fact, if last season would have gone like most expected, then right now you guys would be talking about how great a job Cuonzo did this year to win 20 games.

This is just how it goes with a good coach who only has 5 years HC experience. He will learn from this. Be patient and let our coach get more experience... he will be very successful.

I have been a Cuonzo supporter up until tonight. He didn't care about this game and he showed it in the way he prepared his team and the decisions he made during the game. If the team is wearing Tennessee Volunteers on the uniform and there is a scoreboard, the coach and the team should have enough pride to "give their all for Tennessee."

Once a loser always a loser. This is Cuonzo's answer to Dooley at Kentucky last year.

I find it sad you let an NIT game flip your opinion of our head coach. Seems like you'd let the games that actually matter determine your opinion.

This isn't the first coach or team to mail in an NIT game, nor will it be the last.

You either have pride or you don't. Tonight, he proved he didn't. This is no better than Dooley's job as a coach at UK last year....."who wants to go to a crappy bowl, anyways."

Besides, Cuonzo led his team to the NIT with his coaching this year. He should have prepared for the game.
