Let the Vitello speculation begin!

Kind of brings me back to my original concern. How he feels today has no bearing on tomorrow if revenue share and phone a friend white ****s it up
All the other schools in the country are in that boat, and TV is already the highest paid coach in the country.

I could see him leaving, in fact, I would say it is probable that he'd eventually leave, if he didn't win that title last year and get the big raise. If instead Tennessee was a very good but not championship-level program and he was making a salary more in the $1-2m range, then he'd definitely leave. Fortunately he and the program aren't in that position.

TV leaving for Arkansas is kind of like the speculation that Dabo would eventually leave for Alabama at some future point, except TV isn't an alum of Arkansas and isn't from there. It was always possible, but once Dabo won a title at Clemson, was made the highest/one of the highest paid coaches in the sport, and Clemson started giving him anything that the program needed, that pretty much took away any good reason for him to leave.

What if the Dodgers wanted him?
lol The Braves need him. In all seriousness, i do not think Tony will go anywhere. They are up grading the baseball park, they made him one of if not the top paid coach for baseball. And he like Knoxville.

I still believe the biggest issue with the possibility of Tony V to Arkansas lies with the financial commitment it would take from Arkansas, whether CTV would have any interest or not. Personally, I don't think Tony V would consider leaving without a very compelling reason to do so. If Dave Van Horn were to decide to retire at the end of this season, Arkansas would have to pay a $3 million buy out for Tony V(after June 30th), buyouts for the Assistant coaches, and then double the salary pool from DVH's current $1.5 million to $3 million per year as well as nearly doubling their current salary pool for Assistants all just to match what CTV and staff currently make here.

Really impressive, not even 24 hours old and this thread has 102 post counting this one.

It’s the off-season now. This will probably be a topic every off-season till we all die because that’s just what happens when you have an elite coach and everyone will want to try and poach them.

I mean, if poor ol' Miss Stake can pony up $2.9 million/year for O'Connor, I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that a school like Arkansas could try to muster up the resources for Tony.

That being said, this narrative pops up way too often and seems driven entirely by wishful Arkansas fans and disaffected Tennessee fans. Neither party has a good shot at being right.

27 vs. 8...overall

For those bad at math at home, that's over THREE times as many overall.

8 vs. 4...head-to-head.

Again, for those who can't do simple math, that's TWICE as many head to head.
Yeah, but nobody's joining the Yankees because of titles they won almost a hundred years ago; they're doing it because of (1) the absolutely dominant run they had in the 90s/2000s, and (2) the money & lure of living in New York City

Most guys are taking the most money, team doesn't matter (see Soto LOL).

Same thing in college now.

From what I have read/heard, one of DVH’s assistants would likely be the guy once he retires. Matt Hobbs the pitching coach would likely get the job.

The only way I see Tony Vitello leaving the Vols is because of immature fan base disgruntlement. We have characters that are never satisfied. It gets tiresome. Some will complain about this year and only making a Super Regional.

All I want is to maintain the consistency, but yet some will complain.

Arkansas will be in search of a coach in the future and no doubt they will come looking. LSU did it a few years ago and it did not happen but TV knows what he has here.

TV is a class act and it was noted several times after game 2 of the regionals. He spent some time on the field with Arkansas post game 2. Nothing to worry about, but just know he is who he is, a class act.
Tony wouldn’t leave 3.1 mil on the table because fans are butthurt. Especially after they name a street after him
