Let it be known

It would appear a lot of you have seen fools gold so much you don't know the real thing when you see it...
If the Vols can stay healthy the players are going to make the fans proud this year. These guys have pride. Vol Pride

You guys need to back up and take another look at those players who are returning and think back to last year when our D played some very good ball at times in the first half only to wear down in the second and due to poor poor offensive play.

I think you r going to be surprised and are selling this team short. If we get some good O play we may be very tough on the D side. Very tough

These stats would suggest that we will see great improvement on D. This is my hype video and why I agree with the statement in this thread. I know that the talent level is different, but the consistency Pruitt has across different schools with different players hasn't changed. Expect good surprises this season.

Some are expecting one this year lol

Don't you bring facts into this. Since Pruitt has never been a HC, then none of his experience as a DC is gonna matter at all, and it's impossible to say that he's going to be a good coach in any way.

I see 9 games on the schedule where, with proper development and coaching, we have talent equal to or greater than the opponent.

I do believe that our 4-8 record last year could have easily been 8-4 with a hint of coaching from Butch. There is zero reason why South Carolina should have beaten us, except coaching. There is zero reason why Florida should have beaten us. There is zero reason why Vanderbilt or Kentucky should EVER beat us. With adequate coaching and development, this team last year at a minimum would have been 8-4. Even throwing out Vanderbilt and keeping it a loss, we were 15 points from being 7-5 and making a bowl. With this team. If you want to tell me a team whose recruiting class has averaged #10 from 2014-2017 couldn't beat a Kentucky team that lived in the #20's and #30's during those years, or a Vanderbilt team because they just weren't good enough, I refuse to believe that.

We have talent. We did not have development. We did not have a solid strategy, nor did we have adjustments. Nor did we have aggressive playcalling. If you give me a coach who will bring those things to the table, I do not see why we COULDN'T (not will, but COULDN'T) beat Charlotte, UTEP, ETSU, WV, SCAR, UK, Vandy, Missouri, and Florida. There will be growing pains and learning curves that will probably cause us to drop some of those. But the potential is here for this team to make it to 9-3.

You are what your record says you are. In CJP's case, UPROVEN. By history, chances are he won't make it here. But, the beautiful thing about being unproven is, ya just never know for sure one way or the other. Maybe we get lucky like Clemson and hire the real deal. Hope so.

Nowhere to go but UP

True...as I said before, last year the D played some very good halves...but the offense kept them on the field all day.
This year will be different..I think we will have both a passing game and a strong running game.
Kennedy will be a tremendous help and if we have a QB who can just throw 5 and 10 yard completions we can win and also give our D the rest they need.
So many injuries but my goodness they were on the field most of the game

Great post...should be a THREAD STARTER..Go ahead, do it, make my day!!!!!

Just because you take a couple decent performing assistants from various teams doesn't mean they will come together and work miracles for a massively under talented team in a tough conference. There is literally no tangible proof of an improvement outside of increased weights on the roster. Nothing. Until we see an actual game its all an unknown.

Actually, A lot of the main coaches have worked together before and have known each other for years. So it's not really accurate to say "assistants from various teams" This is from an article talking about just that:

"The practice field is Pruitt's oasis, and it brings out the version of him that most of his assistants know best. Before they worked for Pruitt, seven of Tennessee's 10 full-time assistants worked with him during his stops at Alabama, Georgia and Florida State. Pruitt and defensive coordinator Kevin Sherrer even worked together on the staff at Hoover (Ala.) High School in 2005 and 2006. " So these staff members and assistants will gel quickly and I believe that cohesion will make a positive impact on the players.

Press conference for opening fall camp and the coaches already winning the fan base over.
By mid August even some of our most frustrated fans will be won over.
These guys r good at what they do.
Some on this board have been locked in a dark room long enough. Go ahead, you can open the door and go outside now. The night has passed.

Tennessee will win 8 games and have a good possibility of winning a 9th game during the Bowl Season. Hopefully Gator Bowl against Virginia Tech or Georgia Tech.
No more Georgia Tech please. They rushed for about 550 yards last year. I know it’s a whole different staff and we would have December to prepare, but I would prefer just about any other ACC opponent. That said, the Gator Bowl is a lot fun. Had a great time when we boat raced Iowa a few years ago.
