Les Miles thread (merged)

I love when people throw out guarantees. Usually those people are posting on Forums and not decision making boosters in the program. 😂😂😂😂

Yeah... because I’m really going out on a limb saying a guy receiving Social Security won't be coaching much longer. Why not just call Johnny Majors? He seems spry.

What if Mullen had been hired by LSU instead of Orgeron?

Records for this year prolly the same but next year Mullen would make a major jump with Brennan starting at QB. I expect LSU in general to win 10/11 games next year. It may be coach O but he still has two top 5 coordinators on each side of the football.

Would be best fit at Tennessee.

1. Great recruiter
2. Had best teams in league behind Alabama for years in a dominating West division
3. Can get his missing piece with Tennessee's abilities to recruit quarterbacks.
4. Knows the SEC landscape and the relationships with high school coaches in the region
5. Would now have his team in the East division

6. We would get to see what John Kelly, ty chandler COULD actually do!!!

Don't forget that his record at LSU is 114-34 .

Any school would love to have that record of wins.

Despite what you may think of him, he is a proven winner in the SEC .

What was Fulmer's record? He got fired. No one hired him and he had one of the most impressive W-L records in his day. I for one do not want Miles.

Yeah. Richt is really struggling at Miami with that reason GA fired him. Lame.

huh? He got fired because the fans wanted more, whether right or wrong. No one said Richt was not a good coach. You probably need to go back to bed and take a nap because your reading comprehension is lacking this morning.

I think it is more of age than anything else....no one wants to go through a coaching change in a few years. The smart thing to do is to hire Miles and require him to hire a Tee Martin or younger OC/DC that will be groomed to take over the coaching duties in 3 or 4 years.

Of the biggest names being kicked around... Miles is by far the worst coach and most similar to Jones. Neither is particularly intelligent. That's not intended to offend... just an observation of behavior. Both come as offensive coaches who produced offenses that woefully underperformed the talent on the team. Miles has loaded the NFL with players. Jones managed to suppress Kamara.

My comprehension is just fine. If there was more to your post than stated, maybe you should have used words to express the thoughts.

Miles might be ok if that's the plan. But Tee already has some experience at a big time program (USC) and Fulmer is still around to advise & help Tee with his transition to HC. Given that, I don't think Miles would be needed. If UT ends up hiring a coordinator as HC, Tee just might be the smart choice.

Pretty darn good resume for such a bad coach. Just think what LSU could have done if he had some smarts about him. No other name being kicked around is even in the same room as Miles. His accomplishments in the SEC and nationally can only be matched or exceeded by maybe 5 current and former coaches in the last 20 plus years. And he still has gas left in the tank. No offense taken. It's just by the time we fire the next coach in 4-5 years.......

Correct. Miles best accomplishments were in his earlier seasons at LSU. LSU was declining toward the end his tenure there, much like Fulmer's tenure at UT. Not saying Fulmer was not intelligent too. I think Fulmer just got too complacent, it snowballed and then he couldn't reverse that downturn momentum.

Why did he get fired from LSU then?

It sure as hell wasnt a talent issue.

Fired by an Admin that lacked foreseeable intelligence. Like UGA. Like UT.

There is absolutely no plausible reason to have fired Miles. Arguably the dumbest move since Fulmer. You can argue Miles didn't beat Bama. But, I promise you, he is the ONLY collegiate coach in ALL of college football that beat Saban 3 of 9. There is no coach on our bucket list that will ever be able to do that, or has already proven he can. Beating Saban every 1/3 on average is like winning a NC every other year.

Bogus. His last 2 seasons that got him fired. 8-5 & 9-3. Pre-ceeded by 4 seasons of 44-9. How ungodly stupid of an administration.

Everyone could see that Miles needed to fix a couple of related issues -- poor QB recruiting & development and lack of a balanced offense. He had hired his buddy and yes man Cameron as OC and stubbornly stuck to his "three yards and a cloud of dust" philosophy. He kept promising he would change course and fix those glaring problems, but he was too arrogant and stubborn (stupid) to do so.

Miles is basically a 64 year old version of Butch Jones.

LSU's mistake in firing Miles was their failure to have the right replacement lined up beforehand.

If UGA had won the 2012 SEC CG, they'd have crushed ND for the natty and Richt would likely still be there. He was winning big consistently, but not getting over the final hump and winning championships he should've been able to win, given the talent level on his teams.

UGA knew they were Kirby's dream job and were worried he might get hired by another big program. Richt at UGA was getting stale. UGA decided to reset with a long-time Saban protoge´ who fully intended to deploy Saban's blueprint at UGA. It was also good timing for Richt to get a fresh reset at his alma mater.

They changed Athletic Directors during Miles time there.....

AD's want their own stamp on the program.

And it was extremely dumb for LSU to fire Les Miles
He has proven to be the second best coach in the SEC over the last 10 years
