Fired by an Admin that lacked foreseeable intelligence. Like UGA. Like UT.
There is absolutely no plausible reason to have fired Miles. Arguably the dumbest move since Fulmer. You can argue Miles didn't beat Bama. But, I promise you, he is the ONLY collegiate coach in ALL of college football that beat Saban 3 of 9. There is no coach on our bucket list that will ever be able to do that, or has already proven he can. Beating Saban every 1/3 on average is like winning a NC every other year.
Ahh, gotcha...
So its LSUs Administration fault that Miles refused to change his offensive philosophy and develop a QB worth a damn?
The way he handles game & clock management reminds me so much of Butch, its not even funny.
I mean hell, weve already went through one stubborn coach. Why not go through another one?

No, it was time for him to go, probably a year too late to be honest after seeing the state of recruiting on the OL/DL. What Les was doing was good enough for 9-10 wins a year until the team stopped buying in, the problem being that isn't good enough.
Les is gone because of Les.
My guess, Les would have probably had a rough season last year, if he had not been fired... this year would have been a disaster. I think Les was a good coach, is a good guy and glad he was at LSU but no doubt he wasn't getting it done.
I think he stayed too long at LSU, had a new AD, and I think he got stubborn because of the new AD.
I think with time off to reply and a change of scenery. Les Miles would dominate the east...
What's your thoughts on that?
Everyone could see that Miles needed to fix a couple of related issues -- poor QB recruiting and devopment and lack of a balanced offense. He had hired his buddy and yes man Cameron as OC and stubbornly stuck to his 3 yards and a cloud of dust philosophy. He kept promising he would change course and fix those glaring problems, but he was too arrogant and stubborn (stupid) to do so.
Miles is basically a 64 year old version of Butch Jones.
LSU's mistake in firing Miles was their failure to have the right replacement lined up beforehand.
If UGA had won the 2012 SEC CG, they'd have crushed ND for the natty and Richt would likely still be there. He was winning big consistently, but not getting over the final hump and winning the championships he should've been able to win, given the talent level on his teams. UGA knew they were Kirby's dream job and were worried he might get hired by another big program. It was good for Richt to get a fresh reset at his alma mater.
I actually recommended Les for Tennessee but not as a head coach, as an associate head coach/head recruiter. One scenario I suggested was Frost as head coach and Les as associate head coach/head recruiter... and Pelini as defensive coordinator. Frost doesn't have the experience so you bring in backup. All this probably could be done for the price of what Butch's salary is.
If Frost bolted in a few years you than have options. As far as Les as a full-time head coach - his time has passed... no way I hire him for a 5-10 year job.

You got nothing. He won 77%. 2 NC. 3 on Saban. The 2 seasons that got him fired he was still just a hair under 70%. Off his mark by a couple games in two seasons. His stubborness so many of you like to speak of led him to be bested by no one in the SEC during his eleven years, except one. Only one. He is equal to or better than any coach in the SEC in the last two and a half decades, except one. His "stubborness"- playing pro style smash mouth football all hte way to the 2nd best SEC coach in 20 plus years behind only one.
Recruit sub-par QB talent #1. Other than Mett, not sure most of the guys should have been signed since Ryan Perriloux. Evaluation of talent at the QB position hasn't been very good for sure.
But that was the knock on Miles every year.. I jus never understood that period he seemed to stubborn to get someone to help in that Dept, I suppose
Yea i can see that in Miles.. appreciate the insight..He thought.... you line up your big uglies... we line up our big uglies... comes down to 80% my big uglies win... the other 20% of the time we'll let the defense figure it out or every once in a while Les would pull out a great special teams call.
The problem being that isn't going to work in today's game against top 25 defenses.
I thought it was very obvious this year, that LSU needs a little more production from the QB position to beat the better teams.... Alabama is going to make the QB beat them.
Jarret Lee is probably the exception - he could have developed into a decent QB, with him though - 3 years of Crowton.
Poorly QB evaluation, even guys I thought that could develop, I was wrong on - Brandon Harris.
Brandon Harris transferred to North Carolina this year, similar results if not much worse.
I spoke with an LSU fan at the game and he said Les Miles was next in line for LSU AD, and that he recently bought another house in BR.
How can you not develope a QB at a place like LSU? Thats who Tennessee would be hiring..
Three QB's under Miles were drafted.
Russell - bust in hte NFL but a great college QB at the time
Flynn - 7 years in the league as a backup
Mettenberger - free agent this after 3 seasons, but prob should still be a backup somewhere.
Not exactly terrible in eleven years to have 3 of your QB's drafted.
