Legitimate HC options

Larry Fedora
Bring Chizik too @ OC
Strong @ DC

Maybe I'm partial - he was my WR coach & OC @ MTSU in 2001. But he's got a ton of CFB experience. As do the other 2 I mentioned. SEC experience. Natl championship experience.

And Fedora smoked Vandy back then too, hell.

I like Dan Mullen as a reasonable option.

Same. He would do well with jarret. I know they had a down year, but I feel like they got better as the year went along. Will probably be 8-4 9-3 again at state next year

Chizik is a defensive guy

I don't understand why Gary Patterson is being mentioned more? He brought TCU from the cellar to contender. I know they haven't had a good year but the man can coach and develop talent. Not saying he would be the first choice but I feel should be in the top 3 or 4.

The most realistic options at HC
1. Les Miles
2. Mike Macintyre
3. PJ Fleck
4. D.J. Durkin
5. Dan Mullen
6. Charlie Strong
7. Craig Bohl

If you want a winner and don't want to/ can't pay then take Craig Bohl-- Wyoming coach and former North Dakota State head coach who won 5 FCS championships. His competition might be the problem with hiring him though. Ohio State did that with Jim Tressel. I'd be willing to give App State coach an assistant job and find out what he can do as there should be at least 2 job openings in the assistants.

I think the thing with Chris Peterson is while no on could understand why he turned down "better" jobs than Washington, to him, that was the perfect upgrade. Close to home, major conference and national title opportunities. That tells me there could possibly be a coach out there who wants to be at TN more than LSU, TX or Notrw Dame for similar reasons. Like a Jim Bob Cooter, Tee Martin, etc.

Hey it's my 500th post! Yay me!

Derp I meant their (UNC) guy now, my bad. Thx for the catch. Been a long night/day lol

Haha I hear you. I feel like Fedora is butch 2.0 though. Seems to drop 1 or 2 he shouldn't, but a consistent 8-9 coach. I think I like Fleck for the young energetic appeal. Dude is recruiting like a boss at Western Michigan. Just seems to bring it every where. Jumping up that quick may hurt his development though.

Has the Mike Gundy option left that station? Our program is alot better now than it was when Dooley was fired.

Also, Mike Leach would be an interesting selection. He has SEC coaching experience as well.

If Butch leaves this offseason before we have an AD, what are odds that Coach Fulmer is interim for a year?

Chip Kelly can and he may not have a choice -- 1-10 now

Chip Kelly would be much more attainable, would probably take about 6 million, as there could be other big schools after him. (Notre Dame/Oregon) A high price tag, but for a proven winner. And there's no telling if he would bolt for the NFL again.

If Butch leaves I guarantee you that Chip Kelly would be drooling to take the job...He really isn't an NFL coach and I'm sure he can't wait to get back into college coaching at the right job...He would be my first and only choice.

Kiffin is not a realistic candidate for us. I don't want to come off as a jerk but have some dignity and stop dreaming. Let's not allow ourselves to be disrespected like that.

this. after what kiffen did to us before, and we were to hire him back. it would be like the way that neegan guy on walking dead says. kiffen would have slid his d**k down our throats and we thanked him for it.

Updated list (in no particular order):

1. Miles - former LSU HC.
2. Briles - former Baylor HC.
3. Petrino - Louisville HC.
4. Kiffin - Bama OC.
5. Fleck - W. Michigan HC.
6. Fuente - VA Tech HC.
7. Chip Kelly - 49ers HC.
8. Mullen - Miss. St. HC.
9. Durkin - Maryland HC.
10. Macintyre - Colorado HC.
11. Jim Bob Cooter - Lions OC.
12. Brent Venables - Clemson DC.
13. Scott Satterfield - App. St. HC.
Others to be added?

Greg Schiano - Ohio St., DC, Tampa Bay Bucs, HC, Rutgers, HC

Jim Leavitt - USF, HC, Kansas St., DC, San Francisco 49ers, LBC,

Not sure that Les Miles wouldn't come here and do the same. Strong run game, mediocre QB yearly, decent defense, 3-4 guaranteed trick plays a game and ALMOST beat Alabama every year. Seems like he's stuck in an older era of football. But I may be wrong.

We might as well bring CPF out of retirement. Most of the names listed as possible coaches are not as good of a recruiter as CBJ. Don't need new coach just more 4* and 5* players.

Butch has gotten a pass for 4 years now and has stolen close to 16 million dollars from Tennessee.

How can you say that. He has brought the Vols out of the depths and beat Iowa and Northwestern in bowl games. He is a great recruiter and everybody likes him. If it wasn't for all the injuries he would be playng for the SEC championship this Saturday.
