Legitimate HC options

I don't get the hire _____ coach if you can get great assistants. That's not a good start. If a coach needs top flight assistants to be successful, he's not much of a coach. They get exposed when the assistants leave.

Updated list (in no particular order):

1. Miles - former LSU HC.
2. Briles - former Baylor HC.
3. Petrino - Louisville HC.
4. Kiffin - Bama OC.
5. Fleck - W. Michigan HC.
6. Fuente - VA Tech HC.
7. Chip Kelly - 49ers HC.
8. Mullen - Miss. St. HC.
9. Durkin - Maryland HC.
10. Macintyre - Colorado HC.
11. Jim Bob Cooter - Lions OC.
12. Brent Venables - Clemson DC.
13. Scott Satterfield - App. St. HC.
Others to be added?

Kiffin is not a realistic candidate for us. I don't want to come off as a jerk but have some dignity and stop dreaming. Let's not allow ourselves to be disrespected like that.

Yes and no. The HC is overall responsible but he can't coach everything.

Reality in the SEC you need quality coaches at all positions or at least most positions. 1 very good head coach with average assistants and S@C coaches will not win many championships. Look at bama they have coaches galore they have all kinds of titles for them. If Saban lost quality assistants and replaced them with average ones you would see them fall back to the pack over time. GBO!!!!

Won't be a popular opinion, but I would like to see Scott Satterfield from Appy State.

He's proven he can win and makes the most out of his players regardless of their star ranking.

Doubt he could handle the pressure of sec

I agree that you need good assistants. I think that should be expected. But assistants come and go. I hope when the time comes that we can find someone who will continue to be successful despite that turnover and someone who quality coaches want to work for.

Sorry but how in the world can anyone want a coach that covered up rapes? That could have been my daughter's or yours. Unbelievable!

Get Kiffin of any list. We are looking for a great coach for many reasons,... one of those reasons is so that any time we face Kiffin... in any game - no matter his role, we beat the ever-lovin' buzzard-puss out of his team.

As a human, I certainly do not wish him ill. As a competitor, though, he can suck it.

Really 1-4 is a joke. Should have hired Petrino after Fulmer. Kiffin has proven he is not a head coach. Briles has too much baggage right now. Dan Mullens was beaten by Kentucky this year. We should have learned from Dooley beating Butch on that one. Durkin or McIntyre has the most interest.

So was Petrino.

Obviously not a lot to go by, and I wish he had bigger school experience but I am really starting to like fleck

I like Les Miles. My only concern is that his best work is behind him. Sort of like Rick Barnes.
