Leavitt to LSU

If the LSU brass want to spend several million dollars on a QB coming off an injury, more power to them. For what this kid was wanting, I am glad we did NOT pull the trigger to get Leavitt for what he was asking for. I think we can still get a good, capable QB with still enough left to fill some holes that we need by not getting Sam Leavitt. Too big of a risk. We should be okay if Heupel, White, and the UT boosters go through and get us the players we need the SMART way.

I think I’m more concerned about Heupel willing to pay this guy $7m than I would be if Heupel didn’t try to make an offer at all. If this is just a scheme to get Kiffin to pay more, Bravo, but actually pursuing this QB with that kind of $ thinking he is going to be all world makes no sense. ASU is 15 min up the road from me. Most of their games are televised. I didn’t see anything about this QB that leads me to believe he is elite or can carry a team. If you pay a prima Donna like this, what kind of locker room do you think that would create. Good Riddance. Let’s move on and be happy we didn’t get this guy.

Frankly I haven’t seen a QB in the portal that would be considered a “can’t miss” prospect much less paying one $7 million that has an injured foot. Glad that didn’t happen. We can put that money to better use. And Pribula certainly wasn’t the answer. Not sure GMac or Brandon are ready yet either but we’re probably going to have to roll with them.

Tennessee made him an offer and it was what he was worth to us. For those who haven't figured it out, Tennessee is not playing the game. If they didn't for Nico then the certainly wouldn't for Hop Along Cassiddy.

This. Tennessee could’ve paid him 5 million, the same amount that’s being rumored that he’s getting at LSU, but decided he wasn’t worth it. I agree with the powers that be. I’d much rather see the fund be put toward more defensive players. Heupel has shown that he can make just about any QB serviceable, he will make the right call come summer camp.

Let me qualify that. Maybe Ty Simpson but I’m not sure he knows what he wants to do at this point.

Amazing stats, but not so amazing competition. Still, I like this guy better than any of the other portal QBs we have approached.
For my money, he's way less of a risk for way less of a price than anyone else who's been talked about. The other night, the announcers said that, when it comes to the portal, Cignetti takes production over potential. Great numbers at your level usually (not always, but usually) beat so-so numbers at the next level up. We've not had a QB in a while (if at all) who could hit 46 in a row on air, much less against competition. Even Hendon would occasionally sail one or bounce one.

We might have the only coach in America that won a Natty and was the QB of the team. We are coming off the feel good, Aguilar story that the whole nation knows about. Heupel’s reputation is his offense and developing quarterbacks.
Why we were not ahead of this QB situation is just unbelievable. We have a distinct advantage over so many teams where we can take an average QB, plug him into our offense and make him look great.

3500 yrds, 38TD and only 2 INT is balling no matter the level. Little on the shorter side but I wouldn't mind seeing what he could do here then say best man wins.
