I had 4 of these. Cutting 100 acres a day.
Shave 12-14"s of grass as fast as you wanted to go.

I've had a Husqvarna zero turn before and it had a very uneven cut, and always had to mow multiple times.

I now have a 48 inch Scag and absolutely love it. It has a great cut, no maintenance issues, and always reliable. Its American made too. Would highly recommend it

I'm a huge Toro fan, especially in a ZTR. High quality, good ride and ergonomics, and the hydraulics just feel nice and crisp.

On slight to moderate slopes, zero-turns actually feel more stable (IMO) since they have a wide stance and a low center of gravity. Know the limits though. Also avoid steeper slopes when the ground is saturated. Otherwise, just take it easy and don't make any quick sudden movements that could cause you to lose traction to a wheel. All in all, they are easy to control and are more comfortable. You can also keep a nice ground speed compared to tractors, especially if you don't let your lawn get too thick or mow when it's wet.

 That looks like a beast!!! And fun to operate?

Oh yeah. 4wd. Turn pretty damn sharp.

It would climb a hill I could not stand on. It think the engineer said it was a 30 degree angle. Approximately 70 feet long. I'd climb up it and back down it.

They'd run about 15mph. One of them I had a flex deck on it. I loved it for ditches. It worked similar to a bat wing hog. 2' in center and the 2 sides each 2' feet wide would flow up or down with the terrain.

About 22k new.

Well I went Lawn mower shopping today, still trying to decide.

From what I saw today these are the two I like.

The Husqvarna 24-HP V-Twin Hydrostatic 48-in Riding Lawn Mower at Lowe's for $1899.00
I went to a local lawn mower dealer and his is a 23 HP 48" cut for $1,799.00.

Shop Husqvarna 24-HP V-Twin Hydrostatic 48-in Riding Lawn Mower at Lowes.com

The mower that I was impressed with is a Cub Cadet which is getting a bad name on here.
It is a RZT-S Series.. Zero turn with a steering wheel. It is what the largest lawn mower dealer is my area is pushing. With a hilly lot, he said it would be by far my best option.

Does anyone have any experience with one of these ?

I just think that the overall composition of that Cub is of lesser quality than you'll find with a Toro/Deere/Xmark/Ferris ZTR. This isn't (your daddy's) in Gramp's case YOUR Cub Cadet. Made by MTD, stamped decks, and overall haphazard craftsmanship IMO.

24V48 is a solid tractor, sold quite a few of them. I would recommend it, as a tractor, but as far as ZTR, i would put Husqvarna in the same category as the MTD brands.

I had a feeling I would get that response. It is a good looking machine and I like the steering wheel. It is suppose to be great on a hill. Being a good looking machine does not make it a good machine. I guess I will rule Cub Cadet out.

Well I just moved the Husqvarna to the #1 slot. Lowe's also had a John Deere that was similar to the Husky for $1,999.00. I may go to a Deere dealer and check them out before I buy. You seem to give Deere a good name but do not like price. The hood on the JD was thinner and lighter than the Husky. I did not like that.
Any mfg other than Cub make a ZTR with a steering wheel?

We never sold any of that build, honestly. But I would guarantee that with a few hours of feeling things out, you'll love driving a ZTR. I believe vol in ar was on the fence as well, and he grasped it pretty quick.

So both of you think I should go with the Toro 5000 ZTR vs the Husqvarna 24 hp 48" tractor.

I may go "take a test drive" on the Toro.
I'm not sure about driving with 2 sticks. That Husky had a very nice steering wheel.....lol

I'd say go with what you like....I went with the Toro, because it was too good of a deal to pass up

I simply prefer the zero turns, when you get used to it you'll never consider another tractor. But being comfortable with your equipment is priority #1

This.

Not to mention once you get use to the ztr's you will kick your self in butt at the time you gain in efficiently mowing. Depending on model is wager you would finish the same task as you have done in the past 30-35% quicker.

You'll never want a tractor again.

I went larger and used. I can use it to mow the big area and use my push mower around the house and flower beds.

John Deere 855 compact tractor with a front end loader and finishing mower. It's a 3 cyl. diesel with 4 wheel drive. If I am not pleased with the way it mows, we have a few acres that I can use it to play around on and go buy one of the Husqvarna 24 hp 48". I may still do that in a week or so. I've been wanting one of the compact tractors for a while to use around the farm.

Thanks for all the replys and advise on mowers

I promise from experience, do not get a Husqvarna, especially from Lowes. You had mentioned early about not liking an uneven cut and having to mow twice. With the Husqvarna I always had to mow at least twice to get a clean cut.

Is your Husqvarna a ZTR or tractor?
I sure do not like an uneven cut. I am tired of double mowing due to uneven cut by my Troy Bilt.

Toujours Pret had recommended the lawn tractor but said to stay away from the ZTR.
