LaTroy Lewis Earns 3 Year Contract The Raiders

Do you always just say random **** and then tell people to prove it wrong when they point out how ridiculous it is?

Doesn't sound out of the realm of possibility that Kahlil said "hey Dad, LaTroy works hard. Keep an eye on him"...

And then his dad thought after watching LaTroy..."Damn, my son was right! This guy is a baller!"

I mean, this COULD have happened.

Congrats Troy and here's hoping that all our undrafted free agents will make a team.

Is it confirmed that it is a "guaranteed" contract? From what I found online it appears he got signed to the 90 man roster...If that is the case then he still has a long row to hoe in order to actually make the team.

Lewis has an incredible motor and drive to play football. With this golden opportunity, I'm sure he will make the final roster in some aspect.

I'd say ol Kahlil might have had a little something to do with this.

Not to discredit LaTroy, but that was pretty damn fast.

Its much more likely that Reggie got an upclose look at Latroy the last 2 years while his son played and practiced alongside Lewis and, as an NFL executive who must do his due diligence in the execution of his duties, determined that LaTroy deserved a fair NFL evaluation.....and Latroy validated that professional decision by showing extremely well at the Raiders rookie minicamp. Writing this off to Kahlil's endorsement is wrong headed imo.

So, hypothetically speaking, if Kahlil doesn't go to UT, does LaTroy end up in Oakland?

Hmmmm...

You implied that Kahlil said "hey Pops, you gotta sign Latroy....he's real good".

I'm saying that ain't the way it happened and that Reggie being professional and doing his job, coupled with Latroy performing well at mini camp is what got him the contact. See the difference?

I didn't say Kahlil told his dad to sign him. I said Kahlil probably helped put LaTroy on his radar, if he weren't already.

I don't think Khalil swayed opinions about business. However, he may have allowed the raiders GM to get a sneak peak during the season and maybe at some practices of LL balling out.

Either way, I'm happy for Latroy.

He means that if the coaching staff was worth a crap, he would of been drafted.

We were 7th most drafted school this year. We had 6 draft picks.

Ohio State had 7.

Utah was 3rd or 4th. So no.

Who knows. Reggie is both an NFL GM and a former Vol, which means he gets all the upclose looks at Tennessee's players that he wants.

As you can see, a lot of us on here took your original post for what it was and a lot of us disagree with you that Kahlil was a bigger influence for Latroy getting his deal than Latroy's actual performance in rookie minicamp. Did KMac have good things to say about a teammate? Sure, no doubt. But Reggie's desire to sign the best players he can, his professional evaluation and Latroy's apparent outstanding showing in minicamp are why he signed that 3 year deal.

Your reading comprehension isn't very good. Also, how do you KNOW that Kahlil didn't have anything to do with it? Like with 100% certainty, how can you say that he didn't put in a good word to his dad? The NFL is a good ol boys club just like everything else.

Common sense IMO

I am glad he got the 1.6 million up front but i don't see how he got that much up front being undrafted FA' but now days 1.6 million is nothing in the NFL.

Honestly the different contract structures for rookies helped teams a lot...
