Why is he not relatable??? Because he is white,a man, his age or because he is not associated with the ladyvols?? He is very smart with the x&o part. Dont get me wrong I dont want him either,however he has coached and just as skillful if not more than Kara..

Never had any problem with Kara's commentating; in fact, we enjoy her very much. Never liked UCONN shill Burke who fawned over Luigi constantly. Kara srikes just the right balance for all the traits one looks for in an announcer.

If Kara is somehow picked for the UT job, I'll fully suppirt her and her staff and hope she proves my reservations about her inexperience totally wrong. We may be looking for a home run hire, but a triple or even double in first year would be a big improvement.

Did you notice Lobo's obligatory shout-out/plug for Conn in her brief Final Four video bit...reminding viewers of the many times Conn has been to the Final Four/Finals?

This won't be popular, but of course a shout out to UConn's amazing FF run is obligatory for any announcer, just icing on the cake that a UConn alum got to say it. What Geno has accomplished is historic and amazing. Sorry, it burns my very being, but it just is.

What if the situation was reversed and the LVs had dominated and Kara (very loudly, in that shouty way she has) fawned on in the vid about our accomplishments? Bet we would have loved it!

I said that because people were complaining about the old school mentality of coaches... so since he came up in the same era as Pat and from his comments seem old school type of person I just don’t see him as relatable as some others. Kelly Graves is an Older White man who his players love and is relatable (he does things on his twitter like ask about what shoes people think he should wear on recruiting trips or during games differing in Nikes and Jordans) and the fans love him. Gary Blair wins fans over with candy and his personality (which is funny to watch) and so did Van Chancellor older white guys who adapted to their players and the evolving game and their players respond to them. Gary let’s Chennedy Carter get fired up but I have caught him firing back at her and her responding to that when she could have sulked.

So to me having a penis nor does ethnicity disqualify you from being relatable or the LV coach because it’s about the person... and Andy Landers doesn’t seem as relatable as those I mentioned and I don’t THINK any of them had LV ties (not saying there coming here either).

I hope him being male or white or older isn’t a problem for you because it’s not for me. If you look at who the LVs were coached by in high school they range in age, ethnicities, and varying backgrounds. Again, it’s about the person FOR ME !!! I felt like I wasn’t doing my post justice without the extra punctuations after seeing yours 😃

No, what UCONN has done is amazing, especially since 2000. It's a true dynasty with ten of their championships coming in that era. And the consistency is amazing. But we used to be nearly that consistent, and we do have eight championships (although the totals should probably be UCONN and TENN both with ten) even with Pat's passing. If the same thing had happened to Auriemma, would UCONN have continued that run? Would Pat have more?

Regardless, it just seemed a little unnecessary to act as UCONN inhabits a stratosphere by itself with no one else anywhere near its orbit. Probably just a little sensitive given that it came from Lobo (whom I like otherwise) and with Pat's life tragically cut short. She did show Pat being carried off by players (although she also highlighted Taurasi a couple of times).

Ahhh...just chalk it up to sour grapes on my part. And dislike for Auriemma's personality, which may be good for tv ratings but still is off-putting from a human perspective. Pat wasn't perfect, but IMO, you can't begin to compare the character of the two individuals. And I think that perception bothers Auriemma although he'll never admit it.

If Lawson is the choice, let's hope she has a strong supporting cast of assistant coaches to assist her from the broadcast booth to the sidelines....

Although I think Harper makes more sense, I can see the merits of Lawson....She's fiery.....Knows basketball (like how she called plays yesterday before they happened) very Romo like.....Her name alone will bring talent, at least for a season or two.....She loves UT....In the basketball world she is charismatic....

Most of the fan base will love her, but there will be some that will complain....

Should know soon.....

I notice whenever a tweet mentions Kara, it says "talked to about", not interviewed like with KJH and Moore. Brice's tweet did the same thing. So we know Kara and Phil been talking about the coaching search since she's advising him on it, but not necessarily about her taking it. Although one tweet did indicate PF would be delighted if she did, maybe he's trying to talk her into it. But she's always in a different category than KJH, would we already knew about, and Moore who we think we know wasn't interested.

No, the shout-out was obligatory for an announcer who is a Con alumnus - she is doing her part to help her old coach keep recruiting up. She is what you call a "homer".

Another thing to consider when choosing a new coach is who can bring the fans back to the gym?

When people started mentioning Balcomb, I had flashbacks to Vandy's near-empty gym (though it has become much emptier since she left). It was during her time coaching that Vandy started limiting the number of tickets sold for the UT games, for fear UT fans might buy too many tickets - sooo good for the game!

The crowd at TBA would have thinned after losing Pat no matter who became coach, but that attendance has dropped way below 10,000 .... it won't be easy to get those people back.

The only one of those that wouldn’t be a crushing disappointment is Ivey. And that would still be a disappointment.
