@kiddiedoc or @NurseGoodVol
I’ve been prescribed a z-pack and dexamethasone. I understand the need for a corticosteroid, but why an antibiotic?
Also, it was recommended that I also take quercetin and famotidine (generic Pepcid) in addition to vitamins C, D, and zinc. Any thoughts on the quercetin and famotidine?
Steroids are pretty much standard of care for moderate to severe CV illness. Azithromycin was used initially but has been removed from all the more recent protocols I've seen. It has a secondary anti-inflammatory property but has not appeared effective. I'm guessing the famotidine is to protect your stomach lining while on steroids. Have not seen quercetin in any protocol.
Would you mind sharing who prescribed this regimen? Also, how sick are you?

A local walk in clinic prescribed the zpack and corticosteroid.
I’m not terribly sick. My fever seems to have subsided. I do have some joint pain and my skin, particularly on my back, is sensitive. Haven’t lost taste or smell. My cough is generally dry. I’m not congested nor do I have any shortness of breath.
I have seen suggestions on needing two doses. Usually you have to wait a while between shots. To me it seems like once we have it worked out here we can then start helping elsewhere. Of course we wont be 100% inoculated over here before it ships. But I would think things should be running smoothly here first. And I would think you have to address the at risk and the "healthcare deserts" biden mentions before sharing it as well.I don't think anyone is suggesting exporting before getting things worked out here. The headline references exporting before it is available for all Americans. Out of 330M Americans, many are children for whom this most likely will not be immediately approved. Many others won't take it. There are multiple posters in the last two pages of this thread stating their lack of interest in receiving a vaccine. Do you think we should produce 330M doses before we export the first dose when less than half that number would actually take it? The headline does a good job of framing it politically by calling out Biden's advisor when Azar (Trump's HHS sec) said much the same thing. The article shows they both seem to think it should be prioritized in the US before being exported. Emmanuel quantified that by referencing getting the RT below 1, and Azar referenced a general target of having the needs in the US met. I think they're both right on this.

There is a reason the airlines have to put on your mask first before helping those around you.
I remember seeing famotidine being pulled out through the machine learning algorithms months ago. When all the patient files were scrubbed, those that were regularly taking famotodine were experiencing better outcomes. At least I’m 99% certain I remember reading that.Steroids are pretty much standard of care for moderate to severe CV illness. No. Her sister-in-law tested positive then her brother and niece did. My wife stated showing symptoms so she got tested. My kids and I aren’t showing symptoms so we aren’t getting tested, at least not yet. Something tells me the kids will have to before they can return to school.Have you all been tested? Our youngest tested positive and the oldest was inconclusive. Neither showed any symptoms at all.
