I think it was posted elsewhere in the thread maybe. Can't remember but it was numbers for Italy that looked like most of the people documented so far were elderly which would help explain the abnormally high mortality rate. So, Italy is at 7% fatality rate of confirmed cases. I guess that number is inflated considerably, given that healthy infected probably aren't being tested.
Even so, this ain't the flu, folks.

No
No your not, you wanna shift the discussion. But how does one contain it that has airports?
But go ahead, tell us how Trump should have been the top scientist at the CDC.
No I truly am because I just read where the great union of countries in Europe will probably go ahead and keep their borders open during the Coronavirus. Now I’m not an educated man but ... my dad taught us when I was but a wee lad to close the front door when I came in the house to keep the bugs outside, Seems applicable.
I don't know. Submit a suggestion to those countries. But, hopefully our refurbished southern border wall can contain the Modelo virus.
I’ll submit a suggestion in general , they are to worried about immigration, hurt feelings and god forbid any ism to look at logical solutions. You can’t make a screen door hold water , that’s pure logic . You asked how does one fix a problem when one has airports , why would you worry about airports when both doors and all the windows to the house are open for people to come and go as they please ?
While you are quarantined do you want running water, power, toilet paper, ...? Then a lot of people need to go to work to make that happen. And if we shut down that doesn't happen. Just cancelling schools strains that.I can’t believe how many of you want to compare this to the flu. Let’s understand some things:
When you cite number of deaths you are using a yearly number. We are only 3 months in at the epicenter which is China. I guarantee you the number of deaths from this will dwarf those.
There is no vaccine for this. We can debate all we want about the efficacy of the flu shot but it certainly helps.
We have no antibodies to fight this. It’s a new disease our body doesn’t know how to take. That’s a problem.
People who fell healthy will make others sick. Which is why some on here who claim they will not do anything different in their lives as long as they don’t feel ill are dangerous dumb F’s.
We love freedom. Show you have the maturity to use it responsibly.
Considering that some of the most beloved people in my life are elderly, that doesn't make me feel better.I think it was posted elsewhere in the thread maybe. Can't remember but it was numbers for Italy that looked like most of the people documented so far were elderly which would help explain the abnormally high mortality rate.
So, close all the borders. close all the airports, shut off shipping... anything else?
We shall see. When I see big business making drastic moves it’s a sign. For example Disney.
What’s going on in Italy hog? They are slightly ahead of us in this. You want to live in that world? Are they over reacting?
I don’t know , bows the time for these highly educated Europeans that I hear so much about to start doing something logical. The Screen door theory doesn’t seem to be working for them . You can’t punch holes in the boat and then wine because the water is sinking you .. you logically know there’s a correlation between rampant viral spread and open borders between countries so close together . Got to start somewhere .
No I asked a question because I had just read an article on Italy and the E.U.that made no sense to me . I didn’t know NOW we are all about nationalism , I was told for three years that was bad .
Nationalism is on the rise in Europe, I'm sure this will add some fuel. As far as how practical closing borders is in stopping the spread of a virus, I'd say not as effective as closing airports, but doing both might help.
