Latest coaching decisions should have taught everyone this...

Saw on an ESPN creeper last nite that Butch Jones will remain on the Bama staff. Due to the mass exodus at Bama, that guy may back into a dream job. Geez I don't understand it. Good people toil their whole life trying to get ahead. Some succeed, some don't. Then you have others that ride coattails and screw people over to get ahead, and laugh all the way to the bank. And they still sleep well at nite.

Why is CBJ not a good person?

Why is CBJ not a good person?
Used car salesman. Many bold face lies about numerous occurrences/situations rather than address mistakes made and moving on. that caught up to him. Told players most anything to get them here, did not live up to expectations, or tell the truth about the reality of the program, refused to proactively ( or reactively) address major issues in the program, did not retain the trust of his customers about making things right, I could go on and on.

All of that lead me to believe that's why he was a used car salesman and not successful working at a high end new car dealership where building trust with customers, employees, or management first, brings results in the back end. Maybe he is just a great guy otherwise but compulsive liar who was representative of the Peter Principle?

We have no idea what is going on behind the scenes. Regardless of Doug Matthews or Jayson Swain or the cousin of the guy who mows your yard, no one who does know anything is talking

Welcome to my first post ever and probably not my best effort but feel it necessary to state that the amount of true info coming from the Vols football dept is limited and will continue to be so IMO going forward and this isn't a bad thing.

Brice, Adams, Matthews, VN insiders, et al did not know and will not know what decisions are being made inside the football program or for that matter the AD dept. Obviously CJP has kept his analysis, interviewing, thoughts, and priorities close to the vest and sequestered to a very limited amount of folks "in the know". I also believe ADPF may have been operating under the same principle when he hired CJP due to the way the search was handled.

My grandpa used to tell me two people can keep a secret because if the secret's out then you know it was the other guy whereas if three or more people know you cant be sure who squealed. CJP may not be limiting to one other person but he sure as hell didn't share with many people his OC search or Tee coming back. As frustrating as this is to us as fans I believe its in the best interest of the program to be able to quietly do background work, interview and make a decision without a crap ton of info getting out to the masses. The bi polar view I have on this is what happened with Schiano, Doeren, and to some degree Mike Leach where the info getting out was a good thing.

I for one think as frustrating as this might be for the near term that we have an AD that loves the Vols and wants to do right for the mistakes or lack of changing when he was a coach. Yes this might be overthinking, but how many times have we gone low budget/insulting offers to HCs or assistants or gotten guys raises only to have to move on to google coaches BECAUSE info got released to the public ( in some cases I believe intentionally). It quite frankly makes UT look like bumbling buffoons ( which they were).

I think henceforth it is safe to say that any "insider info" will be spitballs thrown by people who are looking for something to stick so they can say "I predicted that" without a shred of actual info to back it up. The facts of the OC hire kind-of prove this out...
I look forward to the things that CJP has in store for the program and his ability to keep info quiet until they are ready to release it will be in the best interest of the program IMHO. I truly am interested to hear if others feel the same way or if you think leaking info is in most cases a better way out.
So you’ve had 432 posts since this one? 😯

Good points, but how do we know what he promised the recruits?
Did the recruits or their parents reveal unkempt promises?
I understand what your point is. From our observations, on the outside looking in, it appears That our theory is correct
I just don't know of any proof

I agree 100%. The old axiom, "Loose lips sinks ship" applies to almost every situation.

I've said it before but information is an extremely valuable commodity. If you are being given what appears to be valuable information for free, it's because you are the commodity being traded. This is especially true with online media.

I know what several recruits have said and more importantly I know how he handled "falling on helmets" and discipline issues inside the program depending on whether you were valuable to the program or not. And I know that is the way a lot of coaches handle their business but it still sends the wrong message IMO. As I stated in my opening I guess I don't want to know "how the hot dogs are made" I just want to see the product on the field.
Most importantly I know there weren't a plethora of former players that played for him coming to his defense like you usually see. JMO and you are right but I do have a couple of former players as friends who refuse to come back to "VFL letterman" days while Butch was in the locker due to their lack of respect for his operation. These are guys that played for Johnny and that had respect for Phil, briefly for Lane, and Dools...FWIW.
