Well.... the Vols lost their second game of the season this past weekend.... all but ending any national title hopes. However, the game against Notre Dame was a non-conference game so the Vols still have the upper hand to represent the East in the SEC Championship game against Auburn. The task becomes a little tougher with the recent injuries to quarterbacks Brent Shaeffer and Erik Ainge.

The Vols will not receive an at-large BCS bid... so the rankings don't help them too much. A win over Auburn in the SECCG would give the Vols an automatic bid to a BCS bowl.

However, a top ten BCS finish would help in recruiting.... the Vols have finished in the BCS top twenty-five every year since 1998 (1st year of BCS).... and in the top ten 4 times >>> 1998 (#1), 1999 (#5), 2001 (#6), and 2003 (#8).

Here is the lastest BCS:

1 - USC
2 - Oklahoma
3 - Auburn
4 - California
5 - Wisconsin
6 - Texas
7 - Utah
8 - Georgia
9 - Michigan
10- Boise State
11- Virginia
12-Florida State
13- West Virginia
14- Louisville
15- Tennessee
16- Arizona State
17- Miami (FL)
18- Virginia Tech
19- LSU
20- Iowa

They still win the ACC if they win out... and the automatic BCS game spot that goes with it.

I'd like to see Miami get the BCS from ACC and UT from the SEC. That would look real nice having two mediocre teams in the mix and make for another successful BCS year.

Yeah, but do you really see them beating UVA? Those guys control their destiny too, with only 1 loss.

Miami has been hit hard because of the players who left for the NFL. Your going to have some tough times when you lose that many talented guys. NFL players don't grow on tree's, well here in Florida they do. :p

There Defense has really stunk it up the past few games, but Rolle is a freak!
