First of all...Great Win. GO VOLS !!! I am so proud and happy for the kids.

Question: Did anyone notice that the last defensive playcall of the game was the same as FL? Rush 3 and drop everyone else back into coverage.

We finally made a play to get a win, but just scratching my head on the call. If the same play, I thought the coaches would have learned by now....

Go Vols !!!

I freaked out when I saw that call. I felt like we should have sent at least 5, but at the same time, we did have 2-3 guys on davis, and we were able to cover their weapons very well. So the execution was there.

i noticed it as well but then after the ball was batted away I never thought of it again. Great Win is all I thought. GBO

Agreed. Its all situation based. They were throwing to the end zone there so honestly the call wasn't a bad one. If there was more time, and they were going for the first like the Florida game, that's when you need to send more pressure.

Rushing 3 was perfectly fine.

Having 42 spy in the middle of the field around the 25yd line was completely ignorant

My guess is 42 just waited too long to pick a gap to rush in.

Quite different scenarios. UGA had to go to the endzone whereas UF didn't they were able to work the out routes. You have to protect the goal-line in this case.

No way you play man to man there. Just protect the goal line because they had to reach it.

100% this. We knew with 6 seconds that they were going for the end zone. No one needed to cover the middle of the field, no spy needed. And in the end Sutton fell down and would have given up the TD if Randolph hadn't been back in coverage

This time the players made a play.

In the floriDUHHH the players simply didn't make the play.

Simply proves how really close our Vols are now compared to just 3 years ago wen we were getting totally blown out by several teams a year.

1 good D play and we WIN against floriDUHHH.

1 good D play and we WIN against Oklahoma.

2 to 4 good plays and we WIN against Arkansas.

Just a few more good plays by our kids and we're undefeated and dancing in the streets.

We're just that close and great recruiting the last 2 years is the big difference and coaching up true freshmen fast enough to make a difference during the games is also a big reason we're so close to being undefeated.

Coaches and players all make mistakes and when you're so close to being ranked in the top 10 it's many times just a few good plays that make the difference.

We just have to keep supporting everyone concerned with our footVol program and hope coaches and players all keep getting better.

I believe they will and this season will get better.

I also believe that next year our Vols will be a VERY dangerous team.

VFL...GBO!!!

Even though we won (and I'm happy) I still say some repeated issues. QB draw up the midle 3 times instead of trying to get the first down to put the game away. Playing prevent defense with Georgia on the 1/2 yard line needing a touchdown, etc.

I'm afraid we got lucky we fell behind and HAD to play aggressive. That scares me that the coaches still haven't learned they need to play aggressive all the time for this team to win.

Had a buddy text me and said we only had 10 on the field for the last play. I haven't looked at video, hope it wasn't true.

Exactly, 08. That's how close we came to going to overtime tied at 38. Cam falling down was almost disastrous. Oh, well...

Looked like Cam fell down and Georgia would have made the catch if Randolph wasn't there

Sutton hasn't been himself this year. Could be looking forward to the draft & being a paid football player.
However, you're right. That is another heart breaking end of game scenario for UT if that safety isn't there. May have been Randolph's best play for Tennessee.

Defensively, sometimes it looks that way with him. But then he has a punt return like he did at the end of the game. So I hate to call him out so I won't.

Freak's video thread. Go to the end and unless there is another deep safety at the bottom, there are only 10 defenders on the field.

EDIT: There is another deep safety. If you look at the video 2:53:35 and pause it, you will see him briefly. WHEW!!!

Correct but having a spy waiting for a QB scramble was head scratching.

Should have put another DB at the goal line

the safety made the play. they had help on Mitchell's side, and it turns out that was a good call.

situational football. i've complained about how they've handled that for 3 weeks. in this case, they got it right.

Mentioned this in another post but wanted to congratulate you guys on the win. Dobbs was easily the difference in the game and light years ahead of Greyson Lambert as a QB and it showed when each team needed a play to be made.

Now, does anyone know a Vol fan named AJ Hammond (I think that's the name)? Just wondering because anyone who can pop on twitter after a great player suffers a pretty nasty knee injury and say something along the lines of "good, I hope it ends his career" needs some mental help.

speaking of the last play, am i the only one who waited about ten seconds, just sitting there staring, waiting for a flag, a final second to be added back to the clock, something to go wrong? it was like i was stuck in limbo and couldnt even be excited because i was so worried that something bad was going to happen
