Larry Scott - new TE coach

Some people just don't see it but this is a HUGE WIN for buTch and our coaching staff in several ways.

1...He played O line.

2...He can coach O line, RB's and TE's.

3...He's a very serious teacher and Motivator.

4...He's a very good recruiter and is well known and respected in South Florida which is a top recruiting area for 4* and 5* kids.

5...He's been a run game coordinator, assistant Head Coach and took over as Head Coach this past season for the U when their HC was fired and he saved their season.

6...This gives buTch lots of options on his coaching staff for next season and even more options in future years.

Just 1 option to consider...DeBord helped coach our O line and did a great job in a short time BUT this new guy has played and coached O Line so he may be much better at teaching much better Pass blocking.

We SAW for a fact some new plays using our TE's more catching the ball in the oUTback bowl and we know buTch wants to do more passing to our TE's so this guy could help teach O line Pass blocking and work with our TE's at the same time.

We are seeing our coaching/recruiting staff evolving and getting much better and I think next season we'll see how our O has also evolved this offseason.

buTch is also NOT going to let all those 4* and 5* players all over Florida go to another school without a more serious fight in recruiting them and this coaching addition proves that.

This is a HUGE WIN for our footVol team moving forward.

Building a Champion #BrickbyBrick and coach by coach...VFL...GBO!!!

Hi Miamicane. What are your thoughts on the Richt hire? Most here think he is a bad hire (though many thought he should not have been fired by GA--similar to our Fulmer fire). Was just wondering what your perspective is. Thanks.:good!:

Most on here think it's a bad hire? I don't see that. It's a slam dunk, drop the mic hire for Miami. They were the winners off the offseason by hiring Richt.

I looked at the roster, and Gavin Bryant seemed to be the only one that would have a natural fit at fullback. Quay could slim down and try, but he's needed else where. J.J. is just way to tall. At that height you'll find a DE will sub at full back in some kind of a heavy package which is rarely done in most normal game plans.

Daniel Bituli played FB in HS.

Jumping up and down...then it hit me. Hope he stays more than one year...he's good and might not be around too long. But for now...rave on...:pepper:

GO VOLS!

I love this..Dude average 9 wins a season. 9 wins has been.our best Mark the last decade. He can do well recruiting down here cuz of his name. It really isn't hard to recruit down here. Kids just want a good coach. I think we got it

Love the hire, sprinkle this in with the "pro style" full back formation Debord pulled out for the bowl game, and what do you have; CBJ slowly moving the offense toward a pro style. Don't be suprised if we convert someone on the roster to fullback and we use TE, like we did in the Fulmer era.

I'm pretty sure Butch always wanted to be multiple. I just can't imagine him abandoning the core of his offense, but I could see adding under-center, I-formation as one more multiple in the package.

Seeing that he is a Hurricane alumni, himself, I think it's a solid hire. Richt has a lot of success on his resume and it may be a good thing for him to get a fresh start...a homecoming of sorts.

Can tap into the recruiting hotbed of South Florida and Georgia, where he's developed a lot of relationships over the years. I expect he'll do very well there. They just need to add the facilities to compete with the Jones.

He went to USF..........South Florida is a nice place to live, except during a hurricane season, don't get why he would take a lateral move, unless Coach Richt wanted him out

Mark tried to keep him in Miami. Think this one may be more about personality and coaching philosophy fits. But heck, it could just be about more dollar bills.

I can't help but wonder if he is shady when it comes to recruiting. we don't need no violations. he is from Miami so be careful.

Just about the whole conference is shady when it comes to recruiting, and some teams are down right blatant about it.

I bet you said the same thing when Butch hired Thigpen from Auburn. Stop worrying and just enjoy the hire.

Blatant? Name one school that blatantly ran sCams? If there's a school out there blatantly recruiting dirty, it'll be News to the nation.

On the Larry Scott to Tennessee thread on the Canesinsight message board most of the posters are acting like losing Larry Scott wasn't too bad a loss and one poster even stupidly said that Tennessee was in the same shape as Miami and compared Butch Jones to Al Golden.

This guy saved our season..you pretty much got a head coach as a.position coach

You guys got a hell of a head coach, IMO. UGA is really gambling by letting a sure winner go for a completely unknown DC. I hope Miami dominates the ACC, I've always liked Mark Richt and now I can officially root for him since we don't play his team every year. :)

They're ignorant then. Richt wouldn't have tried to keep Scott if he wouldn't have been a big loss.
