Mike Canales was the interim head coach at North Texas and also good friends with CBJ. Mike Canales and Larry Scott coached together at USF and Scott played for Canales at USF. If Mahoney does indeed get the boot expect Canales to get a good look at as QB coach.

I don't know to much about Scott, but what I've been reading on him and his credentials, this looks like one heck of a hire by Butch. Looking around on some Canes sights, they're not happy at all to lose him to the Vols. IMO this is one of if not the best hire by Butch since he's been here. Awesome job Butch!

Yup. Also just because he's TE coach doesn't mean he isn't going to have an impact on other areas of the team. He has experience on OL and RB so his expertise will be used there too. also is awesome with recruiting

Miami definitely didn't give up when Golden was fired. Scott did a great job. No doubt this hire will help us in recruiting and on the field.

Checked his rivals profile and honestly don't see much to this hire on paper. Doesn't appear to be an elite recruiter. Not trying to bash the guy bc I don't know him. Hope I am wrong. Might get bashed for this.

This system has the ability to pass more to tight ends. I expect to see more in the future. The bowl game was a good example. Ellis had some big catches.
