I've always considered it to be a sign of respect to call a coach, "Coach X" - and disrespectful not to do so.

If so, how come everyone in the local media continually calls him, "Lane" - including Bob Kesling in the course of, "The Lane Kiffin Show"?

Can you imagine someone calling Saban, "Nick", or Meyer, "Urban"? I don't recall anyone ever calling Fulmer, "Phil", either.

What's the deal with, "Lane"?

It's definitely an age thing, but utter crap IMO.

Every coach I've ever had is still Coach to me.

Maybe avoiding confusion w/ his Dad? Seriously though.... If all they're calling him is "Lane" then I'd call it good.... He's been called a lot worse this year. Even Kesling was calling him some other name on the LANE Kiffin show.... I can't remember what the other name was, but CLK got him back.

You forgot a choice on the poll anyways.....from now on, I humbly request that all polls contain the choice "Rap Sucks". I totally would have picked that one.

And yeah, it's a little disrespectful. Not too much, because you never know what was said behind the scenes, ya know??

Didn't Kesling call him Lance?

Titles ARE important. They are polite and gracious recognition of someone's efforts to get where they are. I know to many young PC mind-numbed robots anyone who achieves is necessarily an oppressor not deserving of respect.... but calling someone "coach", "Captain", "Officer", "Dr", or "Sir" is simply a way of showing respect that has generally been earned.
