How would you feel if we hired Lance Leipold?

Yes, I had to google him but at Buffalo he was 5-7, 2-10, 6-6 in first three seasons. If had done similar job here, he would not get that third year. I am not sure what the situation was at Buffalo but just basing it off the record there. Could you please elaborate of any specifics that can help us understand better ?
He won 6 Nattys at previous school in Wisconsin. D 3

Would that be good or bad? He’s won plenty but at significantly smaller schools. Just curious how some would feel.
That’s my only concern, can he be like a Kiffin, or Freeze and out coach Saban with less talented players, that’s my only concern

ha!

Ive never heard of a triple option offense throw for 2800 yards and 30 tds in one season.
Now their rushing yards (2700) does look like a decent running team...
He runs a mix of option spread and RPO he attacks what the D gives and is there weakness. Great energy. Kids love playing for him and play extremely hard. In CHRIST Alone

Many of these guys “could” be a good hire.

However when Eric Bienemy is just sitting there waiting for a big time offer......you open op the wallet.......and you give him a big time offer.

Then you probably look for another coach in 3 years......but by then......you gots suitors lining up.

Thumbs down on both.
Only thing I can say for Leipold is he’s winning with the players he recruited at both coaching jobs, here’s proof in pudding, grant it I wouldn’t be enthused about this hire
First 4 years at Wisconsin Whitewater
57-3
Record after year 4
52-3
At Buffalo
First 4 years
23-27
After year 4
14-6
Grant it Buffalo a bigger school but he has proven he can win at least just not a flashy hire and unproven at this moment

From what I hear today on VN we are going to aim higher with serious $.

The same Josh Huepel that lost 49-23 to BYU?
- did I mention less talented Coastal Carolina beat that same BYU?
- A BYU team that was fighting for national respect to perhaps get into the playoff.

That Same Josh Hupel took over 13-0 program 3 years ago and finished 6-4 this season.

but yeah...letś sign him up!
Leopold, and Heupel are no go's. They can't afford to hire another unproven at power 5 level. They need rock solid this hire period. Or they just don't give a dam about football.

So was Turner Gil
Gill had ONE winning season in three at Buffalo. Eight wins. Then five before taking the Kansas gig. Main reason he got that was Barkley stumping for him in Auburn’s search.

Oh, you're counting Leopolds record from DIII. Hahaha. Ok, that's funny.

Well, let's just add in all the preseason and scrimmage game for Fisher to, to keep it fair

Why wouldn't you look at his DIII record? Do they play with a round ball? Fewer players? Get five downs? Was that record against high school teams or other DIII programs?

I think most people look at it because coaches have to start somewhere and it gets tracked regardless of their division

This from a guy hyping Jeff Fisher who hasn't coached in five years, hasn't had a winning season in 13 years, holds the NFL record for most regular season losses, and has never coached in college at any level.

Rock solid.

Bienemy and Mayo? I’m all over the place with who I would like to see hired. One day it’s Kiffin, the next day it’s Gus and then the next it’s Chadwell and then I thought of this, we fans, the administration and boosters always want a guy that fits our vision, maybe it’s time we get the hell out of the way, find a guy that can coach football, and change our way of thinking to fit his vision. Because it’s obvious, our vision is not working. Let’s get ahead of this thing, be a trendsetter and usher in a new age of college football and imo hiring a guy like Bienemy and bringing in someone like Jerod Mayo(DC) could very well be what gets us there. Throw stupid money at these guys, lock them in long term, leave them alone to do their thing, give them expectations but patience, support them through a long, strenuous rebuild and get this program rolling. What do we have to lose? Kids would possibly flock to this university to play for a couple of guys like EB and JM. I think EB has a good offensive mind and JM is apparently highly respected around the league. With that said, I’ll be on here tomorrow screaming for Les Miles...again!😎
GBO!!

call me cornbread, but 62 year old Jeff Fischer would be much better than 56 year old Lance Leipold. Their head coaching winning percentage is basically the same. One's record was in the NFL, with the other's in the mid-american conference...

Jeff Fisher has never coached in college and has never recruited anyone to do anything. He was a pro coach. The college football sport and the NFL football sport are almost completely different sports. At least in the way business is conducted, management of players and personnel is handled and many, many other areas.

Hiring Jeff Fisher to coach the Vols would be outrageously irrational and irresponsible. UT wouldn't have hired "their guy" as AD and willing to pay a 2.5 million dollar buyout and 1.8 million a year for him to come in and hire Jeff Fisher.....at least I hope not.....

Could've just had Fulmer drive over to Nashville area and pick up Jeff Fisher this weekend and name him coach if that's the case.....

I think we tend to get too caught up in the recruiting aspect(me included) when in reality, Tennessee is one of those schools that sells itself. Hell, Dooley had top 25 classes and it’s widely documented that he was one of the laziest recruiters in the game. I just want a guy that can coach football and develop players. Recruiting is about 2 things, being a good salesman or having the most cash, especially with the mindset of kids nowadays. Kids don’t care about what General Neyland did, or that we can put 100k fans in the seats. All they care about is getting x amount of followers on twitter and getting paid. We’ve got the social media thing covered, now all we need is a guy that can sell a kid on the possibility of getting paid in the league and can actually back it up by doing so.
So give me a guy that can coach and recruiting will fall in line.

Outside of record, where he has coached etc... He does have one of the coolest sounding names. It's also universal.

Lance Leipold could be Dominic Toretto's right hand man or the new FBI agent that is gunning for him.

Also, apologies for making a fast and furious reference. I'm a little ashamed

I’ve thought that many times but I also think you can if you have a competent AD. Everything I’m reading is that the hiring of our new AD was a grand slam hire.

Because of the level of competition. When you're looking at nba coaches, do you count their g league records?

Anyone seriously look at Pruitt's high school coaching and think, that qualifies him to be an sec head coach.

Yeah, that's the argument. All the fans think Gruden would be terrible because he was only a head coach in the nfl and the college job is so much different...🤔
