Question. What do you all think is needed for our hitting to improve against big name competition? I mean consistent hitting like the Oklahoma’s, UCLA’s, etc have ? Also, yes besides recruiting those hitters , or hell, maybe that’s the answer ?

Against someone like Fouts when she brings it to the middle you have too be ready to hit. We have been too patient a few times when ahead in the count. I not sure you can teach clutch hitting. It’s hard to argue with our hitting numbers except driving in runners on base at times.

The last one the girl beat ball into the ground and Ally spins around looking for a pop up and doesn’t get set right at the plate. Little things kill you.

yep... at this level she should know to catch the ball in front of the plate, instead of waiting for the ball to get to your mitt (which was behind the plate).

Wheels have come off now. Ashley deserves better announcers acting like they are killing Ashley they had two balls barely out of the infield.

With better D at catcher just to be honest no one scores that inning.

That was a classic inning for us where no errors are scored (rightly so) but the D cost us runs again.

This team is just not elite overall. One elite pitcher and a few good players. Expectations not real high for this team. Not WS ability.

Had chances early but no clutch hits (Fouts was very good). Then little things on D beat us, big things on D yesterday beat us.

For us to get past a regional we have got to drive in runs when the chances are there. You don’t want to let good pitchers get rolling. On paper the D looked great today but missing plays that could be made will leave you home after the first weekend in the tournament.

The real failure is recruiting pitching. I guess that is why Marty had to go. We have had three years to get a stud behind Ashley and no dice. Decent pitchers but not what the elite teams have for depth.

Even if Bama is a legitimate national title contender it’s still disappointing to lose the series after taking the first game. This team has a lot of work to do if it wants to host a regional. They don’t have the resume to do that right now.

This was a good weekend. It was good to see Parsons, Shipman, Miloy, Turner, and the others that have never experienced a SEC road series. Rhodes is one of the best places to do it. I keep saying this team will be fine and they will be

Shipman and Parsons are juniors.

Shipman was part of the series win at Florida two years ago before her ACL tear.

Parsons played the entire 2019 season. Not only did she experience SEC road series, she started in some of them.
