Lady Vols Softball

Without a doubt which is why I don't think coaches worry about players wanting to transfer out nowadays

Bingo. Ralph was always opposed to taking transfers in the past, but hopefully the Ivy Davis deal will have the program more open to the right transfer in future years. I do think that if Thompson hadn't been hurt in the fall, she would be at second base right now, so they may have the problem solver there already on campus.

View from right field: Ally and Chelsea coming on. Kiki can hit it a long way and is large in charge in cf this year. Ashley in control. Defense good no problems at 2b. Good baserunning. Very solid game. Ally’s confidence hitting and catching is growing.
What happens behind Ashley is the question of the season.

Without a doubt I would like to take Miranda Elish....but she may be heading to Arizona to play with her sister

Yep this is the same Liberty team that beat Arkansas....played Oklahoma, Alabama, Oklahoma State, and LSU all tough
good for them to play Power 5 teams to draw interest in players who normally wouldn't consider Liberty. Dot works the summer cycles with the best of them and has an eye for the right kids to compete.

If the idea to bring in Elish, who leaves to make room for a 1A/B type kid? You almost have to lose 2-3 in the circle to make that work. But agree, probably headed to AZ just thought her sitting was something different this year than covid.

They looked like a Power 5 team. If Ashley wasn’t pitching it would have been a war. Good fielding team.

It is probably a pipe dream but you make room for someone like her plus she would be one of your top hitters.

Dr. Dot is one of the all time greats in the sport and Liberty's softball complex is among the best in the country

I'd have questions on the kind of fit she would be here. I think there will be teams that will pass on her with the ways things played out at Texas. JMO.

Oh I don't think she would be a fit here and I honestly think she is happier without playing softball

Need to win this series to help get a home regional.

Regionals aren't going to be based on seeding this year, they'll be at predetermined sites. Should be announced here in a couple of weeks. With COVID protocols, the NCAA is looking to have teams at predetermined hotels at predetermined sites to make sure everything is followed.

I'm sure UT will submit a bid and with the history of hosting and major full-service hotels downtown, there will likely be postseason softball in Knoxville.

Not sure about Super Regionals, I think they're still considering having them all at one city/metro area, like hoops, but on-campus is still possible.

Where is this coming from?

I haven't heard a final plan, but I had heard predetermined sites were one of the options they were considering. The entire NCAA soccer tournaments are going to be held in one spot soon, as I believe volleyball will as well.

If that option avoids the possibility of spending three weeks in the greater Oklahoma City area, I'm all for it. I know everyone was hoping for a "normal" tournament this year, but the reality is that we're going to fall a little short because of the timeline on everyone being eligible for vaccines and actually getting them scheduled.

I could see it going the old route with 8 regionals and those schools going to OKC.....I could only imagine what it would be like to spend 3 weeks in the OKC area yikes!!
