Well back to the game, and Megan Geer hits a grand slam Tennessee it's 4 to nothing bottom of the first.

As we have discussed earlier in the year the catcher position is close to the weakest spot in our lineup regardless who is there. not strong up the middle.

NC St pitching has been terrible all season we should run rule this game is Arnold can get them out.

Leach does not usually get out foxed running the bases so that play must have been a great play by the outfielder to double her off!!

Kentucky losing 7-0 to Ole Miss in the 6th. That's good for TN - it ties them in the loss column. Much like last season, I keep thinking UK isn't that good. TN has a three game series in Lexington coming up which TN must take.

Missouri up on Alabama 1-0 in the 4th. Can't see that holding.

AU up on UGA 7-5 in the 7th. UF and LSU winning late.

Alabama cannot hit consistently at all....UGA can hit but not pitch...That UK and Ole Miss score is very surprising

Ralph somewhat critical of the offense saying they ran themselves out of two innings, were swinging at change-ups with less than two strikes, and swinging at low balls with the count 3 and 0.

Both Tianna Batts and Savannah Huffstetler now have 4 hits in 8 at bats. I haven't seen Batts in the field, but Huffstetler played in the field a fair amount in the early season games at either SS or 2nd and handled everything sent her way. These two are making themselves known with their play.

RE Auburn, if Myer knew his son was involved with a player and did nothing for months, he too should be sacked. Maybe he didn't know for sure--hard to say.

RE Ralph's comments: Interesting to hear that he doesn't want hitters to swing at changeups with other 2 strikes, unless they are sitting on that pitch. I think when we are facing SEC pitchers, our hitters ought to sit on early changeups more often, as it appears that a lot of pitchers are throwing early-count changeups. Sit on it and belt it.

To bad we don't have a place for Tianna Batts to play I think she is a hitter that would give us a much needed bat in the order. Huffstetler has hit well also but she is behind Leach at 2B.
McSwain had a huge night after a year long slump maybe she is ready to break out and the catching position is certainly open for a change if someone is hitting.

Abby Lockman has had 119 chances, 0 errors, one passed ball, she's thrown out three of four base stealers for a 75% success rate, and her fielding percentage is 1.000.

In 1/3 less chances Scarlet McSwain has two errors, four passed balls, has thrown out one of eight base stealers for a .125% success rate, and her fielding percentage is .979.

Abby Lockman is the team's number one catcher.

For comparison in 2016 Lexi Overstreet had 407 chances, had six errors, 15 passed balls, threw out 9 of 36 base stealers for a 25% success rate, and her fielding percentage was .985.

As she should be but anyone in that position we need to be a hitter as well. No one there yet. Hopefully later!!

Not really catchers must be good defensively first....can not have wild pitches, passed balls, and base runners stealing on you all day
