I know everyone's excited about the Arkansas game next week and the SEC games, but we do have a LA Lafayette team this weekend that has a very mobile QB and runs the option, something Chavis' defense have never been able to contain very well. Here's an exerpt from CPF's press conference today on Lafayette:

“Every week the challenges are different as you look at the strengths of the team you are getting ready to play. (Louisiana-Lafayette) is the second-ranked running team in the country. The quarterback is their best offensive weapon to this point. We’ve got to do a really good job of stopping the run against them. He is a really fine football player, and their style with the option and the misdirection requires discipline and accountability.

Discipline and accountability, those two words make me cringe when thinking about this defense. I know it's a Sun Belt team but, anything involving the option and a mobile QB make me sick with this defense.

Rivals has them at 7th with 242 ypg. Still pretty good but you can't run all day & expect to win. I think they only have one win. Gotta mix it up.

Option and misdirection = a lot of yards against Tennessee.

completely one dimensional and they're something like 1-6. I think they lost to Arky State 56-3 or something. This is all off the top of my head. They may run for some yards but c'mon...

Trust me, ULL is terrible. Yeah we steamrolled them and we arent exactly making waves this year in college football. It will be a good opportunity to play some backups.

You know, this may actually help UT with them being a primarily run oriented offense with Arkansas coming in next week... And now for more news of the obvious....

I will make a prediction that TN will score 35 or more points on L.L, but that young lad they have a QB will cause us some problems. Heck guys, think about it. Arkansas State sliced us up and MTSU and Troy have both shut them down. Most teams are going to make yards on us. We just have to outscore them and force some turnovers.

Ark St may have gotten some yds on us but they put up almost 700 on LL (while LL only had 270yds). I am not that worried. Look at their losses and tell me again how tough they are.

Right now TC Jennings is the third string QB. He's sorta in a "learning" mode and will probably move up to #2 in the offseason Im guessing since Hewitt isnt getting it done as the backup to Corey Leonard.

We moved up and down the field on them all night. Worst defense Ive seen in Indian Stadium in all the years Ive watched football there. Their QB Desormeaux is good but he's about the only postive on their offense. He's athletic and will run a lot.

Fulmer was quoted in today's edition of the Chattanooga Times Free Press as saying the Vols will adjust to the LL QB's speed..........

From the article:
Fulmer said Desormeaux's speed "will be something, like all games, where you've got to adjust through it as you go through the game."
.............................................................

Will this (making adjustments during the game) be a first for the UT defense?

They have a qb who has already thrown for a 1000 yards and rushed for 800....Vols better not sleep on the Cajuns!

This game makes me a little nervous.. I just keep thinking about that Air Force game. They ran the option too.

The same things were said about Southern Miss and Arkansas State... and ULL appears to be worse than both.

If we lose to ULL, we should not only fire the whole staff, we should disband the football program.
