Kyle Phillips speaks

According to Hubbs, it was at one point a legit rumor. Said Kyle just experienced the frustration that a lot of highly-rated freshmen do. Stemmed from his injured shoulder, his lack of playing time and even having lined up inside over the center when he did play in certain passing situations.

Looks like the coaches did a good job of satisfying his concerns and tempering his frustrations. Just because he now says he's "not going anywhere" doesn't mean the rumor at one point didn't have some validity.

Yep

Hubbs even said that shoop mentioning Phillips by name in his presser was a "recruiting" pitch to the kid

No doubt there was some smoke here

I think some of these rumors usually start as:

Fan1- "Hey guys, you know what would really suck? If Kyle Philips transferred."

Fan2- "WHAT?! KYLE PHILIPS IS TRANSFERRING!?!"

Rest of the gullible lot- "Oh no! All my sources (the other gullible lot not presently speaking) say he's gone. What an idiot."

End scene

Who knows!? Maybe hiring Shoop changed some players opinions/attitudes as well.

This happens at every school and always has. The difference is you guys are a bunch of teens or young people who don't realize that rumors don't matter.

The young man has spoken.

It's over with and dead.

I have no doubt that KP is going to flourish and become a beast in the D that Shoop is going to evolve us into.

KP, JRM, Cam and everyone else on the D have now had a little time to talk with Shoop and our other D coaches and have a little better understanding of how things are going to evolve and any doubts are now gone.

Most players absolutely love playing in the Shoop system because they won't be held back as much, they'll be encouraged to play with discipline but to be very aggressive and attack minded.

D players love to attack, put lots of pressure on the O, force mistakes and turnovers and have more opportunities to make big plays for us fans to cheer for.

Our D players are going to play with their hair on fire and ready to Shoop Stomp the other team.

Shoop will also rotate a lot so more players get time on the field and stay happy and he'll have specific packages of players fir specific situations.

Rotating more often will keep our players still ready to rock in the 4th quarter.

It's really going to be fun to watch our new D playing and I can't wait.

Now ranked and climbing back to the Top on Rocky Top...VFL...GBO!!!
