Kuhns

To have pitched as much as he did?? I mean, he was our Sunday starter. But did he perform at a level that he should have kept that position on Sunday? No.
No he did not. But he was getting invaluable experience in the SEC for 2-3 innings each week before he HAD to get pulled.

So if this is true, and I don't know if it is, then see ya kid. You are making a big mistake, but hey, 19 yr. olds and dad's do it all the damn time.

.....and another thing.........If he indeed did tell coaches he was entering into the portal, and again, I have no idea if that is true, but if he did....

His ass does not go to Arkansas !!!

It’s mostly been speculation for a few weeks, so who knows what is true, but it wouldn’t surprise me. My dad has season tickets and sits pretty close to the section the parents are in. He told me after Tony took Kuhns out earlier than expected in the Sunday matchup versus Vandy in the regular season that Teagan’s dad was furious and pissed off. I would imagine that if any of this is true, preceding to take him out in Hoover and not pitch him (rightly so) in regionals was the end of that relationship.

It’s sad if true because for a freshmen he was pretty good and it was clear he just struggled to adjust (like all freshmen) to the SEC. With Phillips, Doyle, Russell, and Arvidson all headed to the draft, he would have the inside track to being our Saturday guy if he stays.
Sounds like the dad is the perfect example of a travel ball parent. Thinks he knows better than even a national champion coach. Will probably end up with his son in a worse situation. They need to get right. If Tony is willing to show Burns the door, you can believe he will do the same with Kuhns

I’m hoping this is just rumors. Surely he’s smart enough to know that he’s got perform to get big time innings. I never held it against him either he’s only a freshman

Sounds like this could be another Nico type situation. Not greed, but not happy because the son didn't get as much playing time as dad wanted. Have a tantrum and decide son will transfer.

A pitcher is a unique position. There is a limit to how much a coach can allow from them. If he is getting hammered, any coach, anywhere, is gonna remove him.

He has one of, if not the best, pitching coaches in the game. Take this season as a learning experience, work on your stuff during the off season, listen to the pitching coach, and come back next season ready to do your job.

Why do you say Saturday? Do you have someone else in mind to be the Friday starter?

I really hope he comes back. Pairing him with Anson Seibert gives us a really nice pair of young weekend starters next year.

If he did come back, I don’t see him making such a massive leap from struggling Sunday starter to Friday ace in one off-season. I think Saturday would be a more realistic progression for him. I also think given the success of guy’s like Doyle and Dollander, we’ll probably target an ace in the portal and land one.

In a perfect world, our rotation next year would be:

Friday: Portal Guy
Saturday: Kuhns
Sunday: Seibert

If Kuhns bounces, CTV will hit the portal for another proven starter. He's probably planning on that regardless of what Kuhns does.

TV said on radio yesterday that he didn't expect Kuhns to pitch for UT again.
Honestly, that is straight up crazy.

I went back and looked at the box score. He got four outs while giving up four runs, all on singles.

If CTV had left him in, and we played a full game, Candybilt was on track to score 27 runs w/27 outs.

Mr. Kuhns should have been down there shaking CTV's hand for saving further embarrassment.

Tegan had a bad day...happens to all of us. The whole team was sleepwalking thru a 10:00 am start game.

Daddy is teaching the kid to quit when the going gets tough.

Which is the worst thing you want to do in a sport like baseball. Players go through slumps and bad stretches all the time. If you have a bad game, you can't just run away to the next team. You have to dig in and work at it with some of the best coaches out there.

Kuhns only has the mirror to look at. When you play 36 innings, you are bound to have a few crappy outings, especially as a freshman. Also Vandy was a good hitting team, especially against us this year. Daddy aint going to solve it by telling his boy to just transfer to "greener pastures".

When I listen to Basilio, it's on the iOS Podcast app so I can skip around. I am not seeing/hearing a CTV appearance. Yesterday's guests were Evan Russell and Watson Brown. Monday was a guy from Hogville.net.

Sounds a lot more like Burns situation than Nico imo

TV hasn’t been on radio this week anywhere I’ve seen, including Basilio.

Not saying some of this doesn’t have legs, but I’d pump the brakes here especially since we’re still playing.
I can't imagine Tony V making any appearances on the radio until after the season is over. We're in winning time now, radio and TV appearances can come later.
