When you have to work an accident when an innocent person is killed by a drunk driver, it kind of brings it into perspective.
Well, to tell you, most of us could care less if you are drinking unless you are being loud and disruptive. That, as well as being a smart*** will get you in trouble faster than holding a beer in a cup. In order to be arrested for PD, the law requires that the offender to be so intoxicated that he/she cannot properly care for themselves and pose and danger to themselves or others. If your inside your house, you cannot be arrested for just having a beer and being seen from the outside. If that was the case, an officer could look inside a bar and arrest everyone he saw holding a beer.

Right on.And if they really cared they would make auto drivers wear a helmet as I am forced to on my bike.I don't mean to show any disrespect or get in the great debate but that is just plain bull*&^% and you know it. If the government gave 1 ounce of crap about really saving lives which one of these would hold the stiffer penalty?
1. Wear your seatbelt at all times.
2. Drunk driving.
I got a ticket for running a red light 6 months ago and elected to go to the safety school rather than have the commies go up on my insurance. The officer who taught the class was actually very good. He said he'd been teaching it for about 12 years and told the hundred or so people there, we make a bigger deal out of drunk driving but truth be known, we'd save THOUSANDS OF MORE lives if we hammered down on the seat belt law.
Drunk driving is a huge cash cow for local and state governments plain & simple. It's not about saving lives...it's about making $$$. If they really cared they'd take those $$$ and invest in valid sober ride programs instead of stupid commercials that won't affect 1% of the population.
Now that my rant is over....thank you sir for what you do.

Had to do some Christmas Eveve stuff and just got back.Hopefully CountVolcula didn't take offense and will be back. This matter demands discussion.
Excatly!
I understand you shouldn't walk down the sidewalk with an open container. If you are in a parking lot and not causing any trouble, I think that is a different matter. Let the people have fun that are not causing trouble. As said above, it is all about the money!
As I had posted earlier, it is the dumb***es that ruin it for everyone. 90% will not give you any trouble.
CountVolcula, why can't the police wait 'til after the game to nail people who may cause problems?Oh yeah, tail gaters are siiting ducks.

You are right.I got you're back.Terrible idea on behalf of KPD, the 10 mile tailgating radius around Neyland is what makes gamedays in Knoxville so great, i could not, nor do i wish to, imagine Knoxville on a Florida or Alabama saturday without the wild and crazyness that is SEC football that gets its fuel from inside a bottle of Jack Daniels or Bud Light. I say at the season opener, every person stand outside Neyland with one of those orange UT Football Bud Light bottles and hold them up in protest, they wont arrest 100,000 people.....we must fight for our right to party (sorry for the bad song lyric quote) but my time in knoxville and my 5 years of contribution to the economy there via local liquor stores and kegs from Pilot on the strip shall not be taken away in vain!
