With all that we have been through, from the UT administration, the Athletic Department, the coaching staff, the players, and the fan base, Knoxville becomes a microcosm this weekend as the Gators come to town.
Seems we have some momentum that feels really good right now, yet we walk on egg shells as we enter the top 25 for the first time in 4 years...not exactly protocol for our beloved Tennessee football program.
We just haven't been able to get a break from the drama, injuries, coaching changes, and most descriptively...just plain ole bad luck. Frustrating to say the least.
Having said that, the above mentioned microcosm gently balances on this pivotal pin head of a game against Florida. If we win, this place explodes with confidence and we rejoice in the fact that we have finally resurfaced as a legitimate contender in the East...headed into the heart of our SEC schedule 4-0.
But, if we lose, this place implodes with doubt and hatred all stemming from the frustration we all endured over the past 5-7 years...and all the crying and whining turns into a flooded river of tears. Ughhhh.
IMO, we are at a total balance between the good and the bad...thus this Florida game weighs so heavy (as it usually does) that it separates and shifts the good from the bad with a ton of weight. Almost too much.
So here's to total focus from the coaches, the PLAYERS, and the fans...as we enter Florida week...AT HOME...in Neyland Stadium...on College Gameday...in the top 25.
We are where we want to be...all of us. It's time to turn up the heat, bring the wood, and arise to this occasion.
May God help keep our team free of any more injury this week, give them total focus, bless them with superb ability...and bring home the glory!!!!
Here's what I think we are gonna do to the Gators:
