The best news for Knecht is that he doesn’t have to struggle anymore to keep a straight face when they keep trying to act like Bronny is a legitimate NBA player.
Being on a bad team isn’t good for your development as a player. You don’t really have a successful team culture to help you develop good habits and you’re constantly at risk of getting moved from a team in constant rebuilding mode. As for Charlotte vs LA, a bigger house doesn’t mean much when your main pastimes are all outside of the house, and LA is way ahead of Charlotte on that front.Yeah, he had good mentors and great exposure in a winning team with a couple greats.
I'd guess he's prefer the LA situation, but Charlotte could give him a better chance to preserve a long term future and earn more next contract due to more playing time and longer leash. I'd say a lot less pressure now, IDK. I've been curious to know how he feels about it. I'm sure he was upset. I don't think any competitive player would want to be there. I bet he would've been fine with Dallas, though. I just think there is some silver lining. I'm super cheap, so first thing I thought of was how much more home I could get for the money in Charlotte and not living to live in that freak show that is LA.
I didn’t say anything about a bigger house. I was talking more about what you get for whatever you pay. Your money goes further in Charlotte. Unless something has changed dramatically, Dalton is not a guy that does a whole lot other than work on basketball. I’d be shocked if he was involved in the LA lifestyle type of activities.Being on a bad team isn’t good for your development as a player. This. I honestly can't believe how little heat Lebron gets for the ramming through of Bronny to an NBA roster.
He is clearly not an NBA player and should have stayed in school much longer to develop.
Gil Arenas had a hilarious bit about Knecht not passing to Bronny. It's worth a watch (language warning) :
The Hornets team that exists now has NEVER been a good team. The OG Hornets (88-02) are now the N.O. Pelicans (03-present). The one that exists now (14-present) was originally the Bobcats (04-13) is Micheal Jordans dark footnote. They have been a consistent bottom dweller in the weak east. Made the playoffs 3 times (lost in the first round all 3) in 20 years and have had lottery picks 17 of their 20 years of existence. In that time they have only produced 2 Allstars Kemba Walker and Lamello. There isn't any reason they can't get better. Maybe Knecht can be a catalyst to jump start that team into an exciting and playoff contending squad. Renewed excitement for the fan base too.

Its not about roles its about playing time. Because of their positional versatility Luka and James only need a decent center and the other 2 slots are whatever the best 3 and D guys you can muster. Its why the Lakers have a roster filled with tweeners. Lemon Daddy and DK were the exception to the rule on that roster. The rest of the rotational players are all guys that play 3-4 positions and/or +defenders.Neither one is asked to do the same thing as Knecht. Officially, no one really has any positions these days. Knecht is a pure wing who could slot in as a 2 or 3, while Luka is really a point guard, and LeBron basically does a little bit of everything.
Actually, Luca and Lebron make lineups weird and all 3 of them are small forwards officially. Both of them are like SF/PG's so having them on the floor means you can have some weird mixes. Have you noticed the last few years outside of Lemon Daddy the guys getting most of the minutes are wings in the 6'6-6'9 range. Last season outside of Reeves and Russell the top 10 in minutes played were all small forwards or bigger. Add in Luka and it gets more crazy.
The Lakers have 2 players on the whole roster under 6'5 (Bronny and VIncent both 6'2). Pretty much their whole rotation is Luka or bigger.
Knecht fit perfectly on the roster. He was traded because he was literally the only asset they had that fit the bill. Williams is an actual defensive liability DK was not a negative defender just not a good one. trust me if they had another player on a 4 mil contract anyone wanted they would have traded them instead. DK was literally the only asset they had that fit the numbers. Reddish was included because he is on an expiring contract. Reeves is not getting traded but his contract was too big even if they wanted to. The luxury tax aprons make trades a lot more complex than ever before. The Lakers were on the first apron and very close to the second paron which severely limits how they can package assets. Being there even determines if and who they can acquire in the buyout market. To your point, the Lakers are gonna have a historically bad defense.
Luka is a bad defender. LeBron is old and isn’t a good defender anymore. Reaves is bad. Mark Williams has potential to be good. But he isn’t yet.
There isn’t anymore room for minus defenders and Knecht is a minus defender in the NBA.
Luka and LeBron don’t need guys like Knecht that are 3 level scorers and can score off the dribble or bounce.
All you need to do, to play with those guys, is sit at the 3 point line ready to catch and shoot.
And be ready to play defense to make up for their lack of it.
Knecht just didn’t fit this new roster construction.
Yeah, I think if they draft well they could have something next year. If I were them I’d trade Ball with him being in demand and having the value he apparently has. That’s not a point guard I’d want to build a franchise around, but I’ll admit my knowledge is pedestrian. They’ve got a young center and pieces to build with. This year is trashed, of course, but I think they could take some steps next season provided they stay healthy and draft well. There isn't any reason they can't get better. Maybe Knecht can be a catalyst to jump start that team into an exciting and playoff contending squad. Renewed excitement for the fan base too.

Every year it happens normally before the draft is even over. But it's fairly common even in season. It rarely happens, in-season, with lottery picks but DK wasn't a lottery pick. But, with this current CBA, it is likely to happen a lot more often now. When was the last time a team trades their no.1 pick in their rookie year?
there are about 20 years of history that beg to differ. Your point is very valid with pretty much any team except for the 2 Hornets franchises. Both the Bobhornets and the Beignethornets have long-long histories of being career-defining stops for players..Basically, if you spend more than a year on their rosters that's it for you. Between the 2 franchises, there is over 60 years of history (20 for the Bobs and 40 for the Beignets) and many more horror stories than happy ones. There isn't any reason they can't get better. Maybe Knecht can be a catalyst to jump start that team into an exciting and playoff contending squad. Renewed excitement for the fan base too.

Luka and LeBron need shooters around them. Knecht is a shooter. His defense would have been problematic this year, but Knecht is not the guy who was ever going to initiate the offense with the Lakers or have the offense run through him, and he probably won’t ever be that guy anywhere. His role is totally different than theirs, and their presence doesn’t erase the need for his role, nor does it mean he wouldn’t have playing time. Two other wings were traded by the Lakers, which meant Knecht probably would have played as much or more than he was before, even with the addition of Luka. I was personally really hoping to see what he would do with all the open looks that would be coming his way. They’re all perimeter players. They all take the ball up the court occasionally but not always. What are you trying to dissect here?
Knecht (recently traded) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Spurs, Roderick Boone of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Knecht was traded by the Lakers to the Hornets along with Cam Reddish (personal), a 2031 unprotected first-round pick and a 2030 pick-swap in exchange for center Mark Williams. Knecht won't debut for Charlotte on Friday, but he'll likely be available to play against Detroit on Sunday. Prior to the trade, Knecht had averaged 8.3 points and 2.2 rebounds over 16.8 minutes per game since the beginning of January.
^ Even if he would have debuted tonight good luck finding the Hornets on t.v to watch him.![]()

You skipped the part of my post that agrees with you. I think DK fits the Lakers perfectly. The issue is they traded away AD and the CBA exists with the Lakers in the verge of the second apron.. Short term the Lakers feel they need a full-time starter at center instead of center by committee. DK is potentially better than Lemon Daddy, but, Reeves is proven and a better defender and more positionally flexible. Lastly contract numbers. When you are above the first apron you can no longer aggregate contracts in a trade... meaning you have to trade like for like.Luka and LeBron need shooters around them. Knecht is a shooter.
