Kippy Brown, Gran Gone - Rumor

WR coach and he would be a HUGE upgrade over Wilson...

And it does look like Gran is going to walk. I don't think we are going to offer him. But after seeing that Wilson might be replaced by Brown, I have no worries at all about losing Gran. The Kiffin's know exactly what they're doing. If they don't think Gran is worth the money, then I don't either...

I would pay Gran at least what he made at Auburn. Do you know what he made down there by chance? I trust Kiffin too, but I think it's a mistake to not try to keep him.

I like Gran as much as the next guy on here, but it's not like he is the only coach in the country that can recruit Fla. Lane will find an adequate replacement if he needs to.

agree....we are going to go through this ever year, the alternative is having a bad staff that no one wants. I like the confident way Kiffin goes about his business, he knows he can replace quality with quality.

Kippy would be awesome. Would be the frst coach with ties to UT on our current staff. Kippy supposedly has Monte connections

Well we do have S&C coach Ausmus who graduated from UT. So he wouldn't be the first coach with ties, he'd just be the first position coach with ties.

I'd hate to see Gran leave. I don't see how the ease of travelling through Florida from FSU would be that big of a draw. That was never a problem during his 9 years at Auburn. I honestly think the only thing that would make him want to make the move to FSU would be $$$$. Pay up Hamilton!!!

Hope the Kippy as WR coach happens. As far a solid recruiting presence in FL, Lane is way to on top of things.

They would have a contingency plan ( a short list) for whatever modifications take place within the staff.

Agreed. There are plenty of coaches that can recruit. Its not like we have the only ones. Lol. This jump off a cliff volnation mentality at coaches leaving baffles me.

Memphis doesn't hold a candle to losing Gran and his ties to Florida. If Gran does leave we are screwed in Fla.

No we are not, We get Kelly, who has ties to Florida.

But Gran isn't gone yet people....and even if he does leave, the sky isn't falling... for god's sake, Look at Oklahoma, Alabama, USC, Texas... all have had coaches leave after 1 or two years, Fulmer only replaced coaches when it was a choice for him to either fire them, or resign, then the decision wasn't up to him anymore, with the exception of Cutcliff.... FAT BOY HAD TO GO.

By letting his AC's go, Kiffin is sending a message to the rest of the young coaches out there with something to prove, come here and help us build something, and you will be a rich man one day. Part of being a championship caliber program requires the coaches moving to the next level, not just the players.

I'll take a bet from anyone on VN that we don't find another coach as good as Gran when it comes to both recruiting and coaching. I challenge anyone here to provide a list of current NFL position players, coached by the same position coach, more impressive than the ones Gran put in the league. Good luck with that.

At least he is leaving for FSU and not someone we have to play alot. We beat Auburn when Gran was a position coach and recruiter there.

Carl Franks is someone they could go after as well. He's the RB's coach from South Florida and has been an assistant in the SEC with Florida.

Gran is an enormous loss IMHO

One of the best position coaches we have had in a LOOONG time

I wonder what Kippy's making at Detroit? He is assistant head coach there and is a brilliant minded coach. It would be awesome to have him back in Knoxville, but very unlikely, i would think. He played at Memphis, but that doesn't mean anything. Having him at Tennessee will attract kids like wanting to play for Monte. Good Ole Sweetwater, TN boy and he's had great coaching positions.

As much as I would hate to lose Gran, I think Monte knows the state of FLA pretty good and he would have a list of capable coaches to replace CEG.I've go no ill will toward Gran for taking the money.Just hope he doesn't negative recruit against us if in fact he does leave.

Will this will affect Palardy's commitment? I assume, since Gran is the ST coach and Palardy is a Floridian, that Gran recruited him?

I don't know about the rest of you but losing these coaches is bumming me out.

Why?? Other than Cutcliffe, who was ever beating down our door to steal coaches away from us in the past 10 years?? Brighter days are here, but we will still have dark days as well.
