Kippy Brown, Gran Gone - Rumor

Very well said; I agree 100%. It certainly won't be a good thing to lose Gran, but I have as much confidence in CLK's ability to recruit quality assistant coaches as I do in his ability to recruit quality players. It's not like he's going to be replacing quality coaches with scrubs. Remember, good coaches develop just like good players do. Somewhere out there, there's another Eddie Gran in the making that hasn't yet been discovered or given the opportunity to prove himself. Exactly like what Kiffinator said, CLK will find a very qualified replacement, should it come to that. Have confidence in Kiffin; he hasn't let us down yet.:salute::salute::salute:
And I hope that guy is Jay Graham (SC's RB coach).

From Tallahassee, Tampa and O town are 4-4.5 hours as is Pensacola. Mobile is another 40 miles past Pensacola.

Now, Miami is another 4 -4.5 hours past Orlando or Tampa, so thats 9 hours or a one hour flight from Tally. Either way , Eric's basic premise is correct, he is a lot closer to where he is doing his magic. CEG was a blessing to the staff lst year, but he is replaceable. My son goes to FSU and if I get a chance to see him I will thank him for his good work.

What good work exactly? Outside of Palardy who would be a huge loss to this class, the majority of his recruits were already unlikely to end up on campus. Ralph Williams, Delvin Jones, and Ted Meline were all looking elsewhere prior to his departure and Jose Jose has already said Gran leaving doesn't matter to him.

Furthermore, as an auburn student who has seen his work up close for many years, Gran is quite easily replaced.

I see your later points, but he did do plenty of good things for Tennessee...and you're forgetting the improvement of Montario Hardesty...

I'd like to think Monterio Hardesty had more to do with Monterio Hardesty's improvement than a one year position coach. You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear and you can't make a top notch SEC running back out of a kid unwilling to work and with little talent. It's hard to be a good running back when you're injured and not playing or watching older players in front you and not playing, which was Hardesty's UT career before this season. Our previous staff for whatever reason had a love affair with Fumbling Foster out of San Diego and Hardesty basically watched Foster up until this year.

Fair enough. I was concentrating more on his recruiting prowess which I feel is overrated but the running backs have been excellent this year. Special Teams on the other hand...

Kippy Brown made Tennessee Wide Receiver U. He would be a great catch if we could get him back. I don't see Kippy coming as a position coach though, OC yes.

If he's not coaching anywhere right now, I'd say he'll take the WR coaching position, with some assurance that he'd be given serious consideration (not a guarantee) for the OC job when it comes available.

I am sure a pro team will pick Kippy up. I wish he would come back home. Didn't Kippy coach with the Dolphin organization for years?

Yes, and I believe he was the OC for Jimmy Johnson a season or two. He may get picked up and he may not. That's a problem coaching for a winless team...it can sink your career. If he was coming from a better team...he'd likely have a job this year. Kippy would be the absolute best hire for the WR coaching job, but I think he'd want some assurance that he'd get a favorable look at OC once the position comes open. If we get back into the SECC mix in the next year or two, Chaney will be a hot commodity and will likely want to get out from underneath CLK, as he doesn't have full OC responsibilities.
