1. My point was that saying someone would start at QB for UT over JC is not saying much. In fact, it's saying so little it's not worth the time.
2. Good.
3. You sucked under Zook against us. The Vols gave Spurrier a loss as a going away from the SEC memory at the Swamp in 2001, and then beat Zook 2 of the next 3 years. That would be 3 out of 4 leading up to your current streak, so don't act like we can't spank that tail. I also noted that CUM's lack of discipline would catch up if he stays. Players' parents will eventually get tired of sending little Johnny down to Gainesville for his trip to jail like the 25 CUM players to date have done. Thus, UF's decline happens either way: CUM can stay and get the whipping he's got coming from Kiffin (that's his fear and why he's really playing it up this year while he's got the upper hand) or go to ND and pretend it wouldn't happen. It really makes no difference to me who you have coaching, but it would be nice to see CUM cry more.
4. There was an SEC for about a half century before there was an SEC title game. The UT-Bama rivalry was being played for several decades before UF realized football was an SEC sport. I know that's a hard concept for Gator fans.
No need to comment on 1 or 2
On point 3:
- Other than UGA, Zook sucked against EVERYONE.
- After UT sent Spurrier away with a loss (thank you Travis Stephens), they crapped the bed in the SEC title game against LSU. A historic road win followed by a monumental letdown in Atlanta. But hey, you did save us both from a beatdown from that '01 Miami squad. That team was stacked.
- The discipline thing is overblown and last I checked the trophy was called the Fulmer Cup. Neither school is in a position to throw stones. Hell, UGA's had more off the field issues than UF and UT sine '05.
- UF's decline was from 2002-2004. UT had a golden opportunity to own the SEC East after Spurrier left, but they didn't take advantage. Now you're left with hoping Kiffin is all he's cracked up to be AND that Meyer leaves for Notre Dame AND that Saban leaves AND that Richt's program falls off. Again, if you can't beat him, just pray like hell he leaves so you don't have to face him.
- It's hard to make a coach cry when you've never beaten him. It looks like 2012 might be your best chance.
On point 4:
Yes I realize the SEC's long, proud history. Again, if you want to pound your chest over successes from 4-5 decades ago before segregation, scholarship limitations and color TV, then go right ahead.
For all of the storied history and tradition that UF allegedly lacks, we're on the verge of taking the lead in the series against Tennessee. How is that possible? UT is 6-15 against Florida the last quarter century, and it's about to be 6-16.
