Kevin Ware has officially asked to be released from his LOI

Except a new head coach was in place when Bryce asked and I fail to see how it is unreasonable to ask that player to meet man-to-man to talk about it.

He made up his mind (or his daddy made his up his mind for him) and didn't want to talk about it?

Bryce wasn't at spring practice. I think he made his feelings known in a timely manner.

early January to mid March is ample time.

If Bryce Brown let his intentions be known in a reasonable amount of time I'd have no problem with it, but like I said, I don't know whether he did or did not.

I don't know all the specifics of his case, therefore I can't give you an answer.

IIRC, Bryce Brown didn't ask out as soon as CLK runnoft for USC, it was later on in the process. Dooley had already counted on having him by the time he had made the decision to leave.

Kevin Ware is making it perfectly clear on the day the coach is fired that he wants out of his LOI. I have no problem with this.

Counting on him for what? IIRC the whole thing started before spring practice began. We all know plenty of things change on the football roster every year between mid-March and September.

So? I don't get your point here. Bryce had to pay the piper to get what he wanted and he didn't do it.

So, because Bryce didn't meet with Dooley, Dooley acted like a spoiled school girl and decide "No, you don't get your scholarship released. NANA Boo Boo!!!!"

Oh!!! That makes it better. Bryce was enrolled here, his coach lied to him, and left.

Kevin Ware knew this could happen, but still signed the LOI.

What happened to "You sign for the program, not the coach" talk I kept hearing for months with Brown?

It's more of the way Bryce handled it

I don't really get your defense here. Dooley can't set policies that players are expected to follow? Especially players who were contributing members of the football team? I just fail to see the connection between Bryce's situation and your stern resignation that it is exactly the same as some HS kid who's never set foot on campus, let alone played minutes for Tennessee. If you want to argue that all players, no matter what, should be able to get releases whenever they damn well please then fine, but that's a really awful policy.

He still needs to wait to see who we hire.

Also, Bryce Brown's coach was out and he wanted out...but was there any sympathy for him?

Brown had already been here a year and Tennessee didn't fire Kiffin. He left. Different story.

There's a difference between "We want him here for the next few years" and "He will be here for the next few years."

Did y'all want him to say "The jury is still out"?

No. We wanted him to wait until 2 days before the opening round of the NCAAs. If Hamilton knew by March 15 or March 16, whenever he went public with this, chances are he knew March 6.

Stay classy.

Why should these kids be punished for a situation that is completely out of their hands? They committed to Pearl, and UT chose to let him go. No reason to hold 17-18 year old kids hostage at a school they have no desire to be at, playing for a coach they don't like.
This is accurate except for the coach part. After the initial disappointment wears off, I think Jones and Ware both will give the new coach a chance to change their minds about opting out of their LOI. If not they are making a decision based solely on emotion and those decisions are never wise. If BP truly loves TN like he says, he should convince them to honor their original intentions anyway.

It's common sense. He does have adults around him to say "hey **** and see who is hired first" i expect him to think this way but not act this way.

For the life of me, I can't figure out what the **** has censored. Doesn't "wait" fit pretty good into that sentence?

Not surprised. Why would he want to remain committed when the coach that recruited him to UT was just shown the door. That's just one of the things that comes with the territory of firing a coach. Hopefully Hamilton won't act like a total jackass and simply grant the kid his release and let him go play somewhere that he wants to.

Its the right thing to do to give Ware and Jones their
releases since both asked Hamilton if Pearl would be here to coach them before sending their LOI.
