That makes me sad. Getting all those starts at TN probably didn't help him to understand what kind of a role he's best suited for. Hopefully he's not allowed his classroom work to slide.

Yes, this is a terrible misfortune for Willie. A missed opportunity for a free, yet valuable education.

From WBKO.com

"He's no longer part of the team," WKU first-year coach Rick Stansbury said. "I sent him back home Friday morning. Just attitude that's not acceptable to be a part of this team."

A transfer from Tennessee before the start of the 2015-16 season, he was suspended at the start of this year and did not become eligible until WKU's Dec. 11 game at Indiana State. He played four games and 23 minutes, scored seven points and collected three rebounds.

"I don't have any idea," Stansbury said when asked if Carmichael will transfer. "He'll be no longer part of this team. And he hadn't been a part yet.

"It's easy for me. It's no problem. Easy. You don't do right, it's simple. It's not hard at all."

I guess Willie is the 3rd Donnie TN recruit that has failed to find success as a student-athlete. First Dominic Woodson. Now Mostella and Carmichael. Punter and Baulkman were successful. Hopefully Tariq and Jabari get their degrees from St. John's and WKU.

And people say attrition under Barnes will be high, lol

Jabari will succeed and I truly believe Tariq will too. It's not about who recruited them. It's a combination of who they are as people, their desire to succeed and family upbringing.

We knew Dominic was a troubled young man when he came to UT. it was apparent to me when mostella was Jabari's roommate he was a spoiled young man with a brother in the NFL. He was used to doing whatever he wanted. Carmichael's own mom said he had a bad attitude in high school.

I just hope that these guys will learn from their experiences, pick up the pieces and move forward.

Mostella has a brother in the NFL? What's his name? I know that Schofield does, but I doubt you're referring to him.

NFL could be wrong but has a sibling playing professionally somewhere, maybe overseas so he told his teammates. I thought it was the NFL.

Update. Mostella's half brother is rolando mcclain, linebacker with the Dallas Cowboys

Per ESPN (Nov. 16)
Dallas Cowboys linebacker Rolando McClain is being suspended for another year, on top of the 10-game suspension he's currently serving that is scheduled to end Monday, and there are doubts he will get to play again in the NFL after recently missing another drug test, NFL sources told ESPN.

McClain is likely to appeal the latest suspension, according to sources. McClain was serving thec current suspension for testing positive for opiates.

Im confused by this post...are you suggesting Rolando McClain is Detrick Mostella's brother?

No I'm not SUGGESTING anything. This is what MOSTELLA told Jabari, Galen and teammates. Jabari was his roommate while at UT. So there are certain things he knew and witnessed.

Whoa...that explains a lot. McClain is unstable at best.

It certainly put some things in perspective for me especially after reading McClain's bio and family history. Some of the same types of behaviors are evident. Ijs...

Yeah, he has been a train wreck as a pro. Taken in top 10 of the draft. Flamed out in Oakland after a productive dirst couple seasons. Retired once or twice and has been riddled with drug problems/suspensions.

Well hello BTO. Haven't heard from you in ages. Lol.

rolando mcclain is Detrick's brother. He is s linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys

You added the last part later on, that explains your next posts...had never heard that he was related to McClain, explains a lot.

Maybe, maybe not. If it's lie Mostella told it to the team. What I do know is they have a personal relationship and are from the same hometown.

McClain isn't originally from Decatur but he did go to high school there. He is also 4-5 years older than Mostella I think.

I'm about 90% sure they aren't related, but I could be wrong.

It's not out of the realm of possibility that they are close, just don't think they are blood relatives.

Edit: He is originally from Decatur

Did a little looking into it, and I'm inclined to agree with you. They may be related in some other way (cousins?), but I can't find anything that shows they are as closely related as brothers, stepbrothers, etc. Most notable is that there is no mention of that sort of relationship in his UT bio.

I'm not doubting he told the team he was related to McClain, but it wouldn't be the first time a kid blew smoke about being related to someone famous.
