Keep him or let him go

I'm telling you guys the better option is to place a Hefty Fine on the coach when he has committed a violation and has left the school where the infraction occurred before it was caught. When you hit people in their wallet they take second notice to doing it again. Just Fine him and move on. Hurting the existing school where the coach is now at makes no sense as they were not involved in the coaches past history. Too me this makes sense. However the NCAA I'm sure want to overcomplicate this.

No one went nuts when we offered Josh Richardson

You are absolutely correct. Most everybody was fine with Josh because he was the only decent prospect that we ended up with that year. It was the others that blew folks minds.

Amen, but this approach makes too much sense for the NCAA.

Amazed at how many have given up on CDT in just 2-3 weeks. Pathetic really.

I haven't given up on him at all, but I feel like if the NCAA cloud hanging over our head is hindering us in recruiting do we really have a choice but to fire him? I mean we didn't look into his past history with the NCAA enough obviously, but all that aside he has proved he is a good coach and a good guy as well. I hope he can get out of this with nothing but a 5 game suspension and we can retain him, but the unknowns are definitely there because nobody knows what's going to happen. If we do have to fire him this will set us back 2-3 more years possibly and we can't have that. I want to keep Tyndall, but the question is will his violations allow us to keep him. We shall see, but until that time I'm behind him 110%. He is a good coach and a good mentor, so that's all that really matters at this point.

I honestly don't care what we do anymore. Keep him, fire him... I don't care.

I will say that I find it interesting though that I see some of the same people who s*** all over Pearl and pushed him out the door, they're backing Tyndall. A coach that has literally done nothing for our program to date. We don't support the guy who gets us to our only elite 8 and #1 standing in the country but we're going to stand behind the guy who has never coached at a big time program or accomplished anything. This, I don't understand. Anyways, I just got a craving for some BBQ. Ssshhhh, don't let the NCAA know I got a stash of some kind meat. Mum's the word.

But, but ole BP lied. Just cant trust a feller that lies. :whistling:

Look I was no big fan of Martin but he did ok. Hart knew Martin was going to leave and what did he come up with "this guy" WTF. Tyndall is a decent coach but my god man is that the best Hart had on his hit list?

It was reported he wanted Michael White at Louisana Tech and was turned down.

Well, I don't think they will fire him unless he gets a show cause, so the NCAA will basically make the decision for us.

I agree that he is a good coach. If we weren't in this losing streak, more people would be behind him. Our lack of talent and depth just caught up to us.

Hypothetically- if Tennessee did fire Tyndall, who in the hell would want to come coach here? Take off the orange-tinted glasses before answering. Facilities can only get you so far.

All of this is a game of IF...IF CDT gets a show cause, IF UT is forced to let him go...IF we can't get a big name this includes the Howlands, Pitino Jr.s, Marshall's and Smarts...IF we assume that UT will only shell out the dough for an up and comer...

Then...I'd like to go for big offense.

Tim Cluess at Iona might be gettable. He's been there 5 years.

In year 1, he went 25-12. In year 2 he went 25-8 and won the MAAC conference regular season, went to the NCAA tourney and lost in the first round. In year 3 he went 20-14, won the conference tourney, went to the NCAA tourney losing in the 2nd round. In year 4, he went 22-11 and won the conference regular season, that team averaged 83.6 points a game. This season he won the conference regular season, they are currently a #13 seed in Lunardi's bracketology. They are currently 24-7, averaging 79.6 points/game despite losing a guy that averaged almost 14 points/game in the 19th game.

He's got some interesting thoughts and he's not afraid of going to a 24 second clock.

I'm not saying he's the guy, but he's certainly worth keeping an eye on....You know...IF all that other stuff happens. :loco:

oh, and I forgot, this year 79.6 pts/gm is #6 in the NCAA, only two spots behind Duke.

Tony Basillio posed a good question today on his show. He said the NCAA is going to give UT a reason to fire Tyndall if they want to and he asked should we cut strings and start all over while we can or keep Tyndall for anything less than a show cause. Personally, I really like Tyndall and think he can coach but my question is can he recruit at the level required to win at a high level? With the NCAA issue hanging over his head, we really wont know an answer to this until it's too late. So, would you prefer to find out the answer to this question or start all over and try to hire another coach?

We need someone who can recruit. We are in same division as Calapari and Kentucky, alone with Florida. Unless we are going to settle for 3rd place every year.

Basketball doesn't have east and west divisions. Also, KY and Florida play each other twice every year, so there will be two losses to distribute between them.

Imagine if Duke had cut coach K after his bad first season or two....I hope Hart gives him his three years and makes a judgement at that time.

Dean Smith was hung in effigy by UNC students...he ended up doing ok.

Totally different situation. Dooley had 3 years. There is no way you dump Tyndall without some serious punishment from the NCAA.

Yeah I completely agree....I'm really surprised that someone would want to fire DT over the season he had....actually....I'm rather impressed he was able to win at least 14 games...looking over that lineup and looking at the schedule I saw no way we could win 10 games....So...lets all relax and see where this NCAA thing goes first...

Not saying you are. There has been a large number of people on here who have turned on him though. Most of this board was sold on him until early Feb. He is same coach he was early on. The last few weeks have made people turn, which is dumb. He has a very, very thin roster. The guy had to basically recruit an entire team in his first couple weeks. If he doesn't win another game this year he overachieved IMO. (Not necc #of wins by who they beat, competed with, etc)
