Keep Calm and Carry On

I don't mind us emulating the old Britain, but certainly not the modern British. They're a bunch of cucks now. I'm not even trying to be funny I find it terribly sad

Another Tolkien favorite, good for football and life:

"But in the end it's only a passing thing, this shadow; even darkness must pass."

And one more, for when the odds are against you and you go out swinging until the end:

“Over the field rang his clear voice calling: ‘Death! Ride, ride to ruin and the world’s ending!’”

I'm a big fan of a very near match to your first:
End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it. ... White shores, and beyond a fair green country and a swift sunrise.

Always loved this one, too--it brings out for me how close adventure (and danger) really can be to each of us in our comfortable lives:
It's a dangerous business, going out your door. You step into the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to."

A real pleasure to meet a fellow Tolkien fan, Zeppelin. The man was a genius.

Definitely JP. And he absolutely was. I first read the LOTR trilogy as a kid. Those novels are among the few that I reread every couple years, along with some works by Ursula K. LeGuin, Octavia Butler, and Hemingway. Tolkien had a fascinating life, both in fiction and reality.

Anyways, we ain't here to play school as Ohio State guy would say. Lol

I have my doubts, frustrations, and hopelessness about Tennessee just as much as the next dude. But it is my alma mater, and no matter how bad it gets, it is my school and home.

One thing to learn from Tolkien is that no matter how much you are beaten down, outmatched, overwhelmed, and without a clear path, there is always hope. If you don't have hope, then what is the point?

Would he interesting to hear a rousing conversation between CS Lewis and Tolkien on the Vols state of affairs wouldn’t it.
