It depends on which poll you trust... CNN has Bredesen up 5 points while Fox has Blackburn up 5. Looks like a dead heat but I expect Phil to win. He is the much better candidate.

He is not a stinking pile of garbage and it remains to be seen how he will vote. He was a very effective governor who did great things for this state. He was much better than either Sundquist or Haslam.

You know damn well he will vote in lockstep with Schummer and co. He either is sure the Dems will not take the Senate or he flat out lied when he said he wouldn't vote Schummer as majority leader.

Bredesen didn't raise taxes 900 million, he was incorrect in that claim. Bredesen did raise several taxes but what he really raised that didn't require legislative approval were various fees. Another thing Bredesen did was raid the Transportation fund nearly every year he was in office to balance the budget and did away with our history of "pay as you go" road building.

BTW the Dems controlled the house until 2009 and the Senate until 04 (when it was an even split for 2 years) so the legislature was not red during his two terms.

There is no difference between a Tax and a Fee because SOMEONE always pays the fees, just like someone always pays the taxes.

I voted for Phil. Thought he was a pretty good Gov. Sadly I voted for Obama the first term. I voted for Harold Ford Jr. I’m a dues paying union member and will be for about 15 more years. I haven’t voted for a Democrat since and never will again after what I’ve seen them do to this country in the last 4-5 years. Any republican who votes for Phil hasn’t learned the lessons I have.
