Kavanaugh Confirmation

I'm finding him less and less credible with each passing day.

Any political aspirations he has are gone if his "client" or "clients" end up backing out, especially given how over the top the allegations are.

I feel like with the liar allegation he's almost inviting a defamation case so he could get discovery on Kavanaugh and--importantly--subpoena Judge. He knows Kavanaugh won't do anything, but this will allow him to claim that Kavanaugh can now sue him for defamation if he thinks the claim is false and use Kavanaugh's unwillingness to sue to support his claim that Kavanaugh doesn't want the truth to come out.

A lot of what he said about the shenanigans by Trump and Cohen turned out to be true. Even you can admit that.

Being that he was sleazy from the beginning discounts any credibility he ever had. His client agreed to a deal then wanted to back out of it for the shot at even bigger dollars, fine. The way he went about representing her was nothing but trashy.

K is not suing Avennati. Would be a huge mistake and he knows it. K hopes he gets through the hearing, there isn't enough to conclude she is telling the truth, he is convincing, and he is voted through the committee and the floor by next week. Then that all fades away.

To sue over it keeps it going.

Yes.

Both sides have participants acting very irresponsibly, imo.

Its perfectly fine for GOPers to say that they are suspicious of the timing. It is not ok to say that, therefore, she's lying and is a Dem operative/plant.

Its perfectly fine for Dems to say that the process is moving too quickly and the allegations deserve to be checked into. It is not ok to say that given the lack of that by the GOP they believe the accuser.

Lindsey Graham on Fox the other day said it best. "What am I supposed to do? Just automatically believe her and ruin his life? She deserves to be heard and we will and judge it then." Or words to that effect.

He's exactly right. Have the hearing, go in with an open mind as best you can, and see who you think is telling the truth.
If the dims have it their way the testimony should wrap up around 2021. Then all of their witnesses will have died and they'll say sorry.

Its all in the gutter but you asked about credibility. He called out Cohen, who tried to bully him, and he stood his ground. Turns out he was largely correct and that Trump and Cohen lied about the Daniels payment, repeatedly. You may not like it, but it is true.

You're forgetting the DNC trotting Ford out for their own civil lawsuit

Want to bet that doesn't happen?

I'm not disputing the payment. He handled the case like a scumbag, but I'm sure his propensity for being a scumbag that will gladly crawl in the sewer was a big reason he was chosen for the case. Still would love to know who's paying him.

Sure.

I'll bet you one week of selected avatar that K is confirmed and on the bench by October 5 and that Ford takes no further action by October 30.

No, no. No deflection allowed on this one. I'm talking about him saying the money was routed from Trump to Cohen, at Trump's direction and with his knowledge, to pay her off.

As you may recall, just a few months ago Cohen said he paid her off all on his own and without Trump's knowledge. That was clearly a lie.

And just a few months ago, on AF1, Trump denied knowing about the payment or the source of it. That was clearly a lie.

I agree with this. If she sues, she opens herself up for a counter suit. K won't go after her becuase of the optics but if she tries to sue him, he would have justification to make her pay.

This was 100% desperation by the dems to try and derail this nomination and it's pretty pathetic. Hope it backfires on them in about 6 weeks.

I'm not deflecting, I believe Trump gave Cohen money to pay her off and both lied.

It’s called proof. She has none of it. Unless she can produce even the slightest bit of evidence any of this is true, I don’t think she even deserves to be heard in the US Senate. It’s quite ridiculous.

I am all for Hammurabi’s code. Accusers face the same penalty for the crime they allege. If they can’t prove it, then they go to jail.

As many of us have stated. We indeed still kept up a prove it mantra but many of us stated we had no doubt he nailed her and paid her to be quiet. The moonbats just wanted us desperately to demand outrage as a result. Nope! That ship sailed a long time ago. Even before Slick Willy.

Another person that has no idea what constitutes "proof."

Of course, calling him a liar without having heard his side is just as bad, no?

Not from Ford’s attorney's standpoint, but McConnell wouldn't in a million years prejudge Kavanaugh as being guilty. As far as the theatrics, most are playing their parts predictably.

The republicans used to stand for family values. I still hear a portion of their base try to trot Trump out there as some pillar of virtue. It is sad to watch the right compromise its values to embrace Trump.
