The FBI doesn't investigate (meaning as a crime) but they can take statements, the committee can call whoever they want in and take the testimony themselves... and they have had that power since the get go. Not sure what your brain injury was, but consider getting medical attention. This process is the investigation, you are very confused individual and its very obvious you don't understand even the basic idea of procedures. Get off the intertube, get off the TV.. start reading real books that don't have Batman on the cover.

The committee's job is to investigate the appointees.
