So far of 5 people named or implied by Ford who were supposed to be at the party, only 1 (Ford herself) corroborates the story.
Her friend says she was never at a party that K attended and doesn't remember anything like this incident
Judge says it didn't happen and K was never at the described party
Smyth says the same.
K denies it and says was never at party.
No one has been found who has any first hand knowledge of the event.
Am I missing something?
Give it a rest cowboy. The Democrats want the GOP senators on the judiciary to do the questioning because they're the ones that are voting. Is it helpful to the Dems that they don't know how to tread around this issue? Yes. But it's also a fair representation of what you're electing when you have a bunch of GOP guys who are out of touch with how many in the nation view the issue and just want to push through with this and get the vote done.
There's no special reason (other than optics) to have a female lawyer doing the questioning. We're not dealing with some esoteric scientific inquiry here.
Do you buy your bull **** by the pound?

Both sides have a political rationale (Republicans don't want to look like they're yet again attacking a woman and are out of touch with issues facing women; the Dems want the Republicans to look out of touch with these issues), but only the Dems have a viable non-political reason--the members of the judiciary panel are the ones voting and this is not a difficult factual issue to investigate through questioning (unlike, say, the science behind global warming). So if anyone is definitely playing politics on this issue (i.e., who gets to do the questioning) it's the Republicans.
