Will someone teach our defense how to wrap up on a tackle? The whole hit hard and hope you knock him down and make ESPN highlights is getting old.
Adjustments to Cobb being open? We had out best two cover DB's (Waggner and Jackson) lined up on him in man-to-man coverage all game. They were getting beat on routes by an NFL WR. Do you think Wilcox should have gone down there and cover Cobb himself? We held them to their lowest point total all season and that is evidence that our DC did not do well. Solid evaluation. Keep those gems coming.
^This. I am so tired of seeing a guy that could be stopped for a gain of a couple yards, busting a twenty yarder. Some of these guys might as well cut off their arms , because they don't use them. As much as I love him, JJ is a big offender of this problem.
Well....flame me if you want (I really dont care) but after watching our defense yesterday (which did in the end show up)...I seriously started questioning Wilcox's ability to coach defense in the SEC....the passes to Cobb over the middle were there every time and UK moved the ball most series with ease...as other teams have done this season...
Now we did get stops and the ball fell toward the Tennessee River which helped...but several games this season defense wise I really started wondering if he is capable of coaching defense in the fast paced SEC....
I almost think Chavis was a bit better and more suited to the SEC style of play...thoughts?
People who didnt love Chavis are complete idiots. There are not to many DC out there better then Chavis in country. There were years we had nothing on D and he still had a good defensive rankings. CHAVIS MAKES ME GO LOCO :loco:
LSU was in the TOP 10 all season and still are
He's also got the best CB in the nation, one of the best LBs and a very very good D line.
Chavis was never able to adjust his D to its strengths or mask a weakness at all.
A blind monkey could have that LSU D in the top 20 in the country.
Look at his game plan against Auburn or Arkansas.
Well...Love him or hate him...Les Miles (Coming off a NC no less) ran out and scooped Chavis up QUICK....I dont think it was all Chavis's fault at UT...more of the ENTIRE staff that had been in place...including the system or what ever you want to call it....for Les Miles to jump at Chavis out to tell you something....Chavis had ALOT of good seasons here...but all good things come to an end....was time to re-stock the shelves for sure..
really? Les Miles' decision making as a supporting point?

Seriously though...for YEARS Chavis held his own...we were top 10 material during the 90's and early 2000's...they simply couldnt beat UF and we would lose a game we were supposed to win...that was UT football for a while ...when recruiting falls off...(Fulmers fault)...then the defense suffers...look at us now...
You use Les Miles' decision making as justification? Seriously?
Chavis isn't bad if he's facing a one dimensional offense. If a team can both run and pass effectively, look out it's going to get ugly. He had a terrible habit of playing down to the competition.
One reason recruiting fell off is that Chavis wouldn't get off his ass and leave Knoxville.
