I haven't seen a damn thing from Wilcox's defense, that has impressed me thus far. We literally looked like a bunch chickens with our heads cut off. Our defense looked as if that didn't have clue in the world, and UAB's offense wasn't even that complex. This has to be the most pathetic win in UT football history. Im still disgusted from watching this game.
Sounds like you need to stop talking about it if it disgusts you then. When you have small and slow LBs, and when they blitz and cannot get pressure on a QB, then a secondary with a guy that was just converted from WR 2 months ago, Art Evans, and a very inconsistent Eric Gordon will not survive on an island especially knowing either Waggoner or Wolf is playing one of the safety positions. The DL is not going to bring pressure, and when you try to bring pressure with a blitz and cannot get pressure then everything is going to be bad.
There's no room for excuses. Other than losing Eric Berry and Dan Williams, which were dominant forces I know, this is practically the same defense we had last year. Wilcox just isn't that good, im sorry.

Umm, would you like to rephrase all who we lost last year? 1. Berry 2. Williams 3. McCoy 4. Rogan 5. Wes Brown
No,this is not practically the same defense we had last year considering Berry's replacement is Waggoner and Wolfe (a walk-on), Williams replacement is a mix between a freshman (Miller), a guy that was playing OL up until a month and a half ago (Thomas), and a DE (Williams). Rogan's replacement is Art Evans. Wes Brown's replacement: see D. Williams' replacement.
So yea, keep thinking this is "practically the same defense." It might make your delusion that much more delusional.
Agreed, Berry and Williams just came off of the top of my head. Im just saying that Wilcox isn't cut out to be our DC, he's just not getting it done.
We had same LB's as last year and Monte had the defense looking better with those same slow LB's as last year!!! Just saying!!!
Keep sipping the Justin Wilcox koolaid and it might make your delusion that much more delusional. Agreed, that we lost some key players, but there's no excuse for this kind of performance defensively not matter where our talent level is.
I guess that is the same excuse the Gators are using. They lost like 10 guys-starters to the NFL on defense and are still winning. Hopefully, one year we will get back to reloading!! :cray:
Now your argument gets even better. Do you really want to compare the Florida situation with the UT situation?
Just saying, they lost a ton to the NFL and the newbies for them have just stepped up so far.
I think personally what has everybody so pissed on this board about Wilcox is that once he was hired, he was known to have a killer defense with average players, walk-on's and no 4 & 5 stars "Boise" BUT field great defenses with what he had. Nobody on this board doesn't reconize that we have severe depth problems and inexperience at all positions, BUT i think everybody was expecting better coaching then what we have seen so far. Boise has no depth either and no 4 & 5 star players but they get after it and blitz so much if you watch them it is not even funny. Not trying to bash DD, Wilcox and Chaney but some of the plays have me going hummmmmmm????
