Just some news that I thought I would pass on

I like your opinions you posted earlier, and I would say that I have to agree that Dooleys D-1 experience was absolutely lacking. We took a shot in the dark and it doesn't look like it will pan out. I was actually at old stone Fort just the other day for a hike. Also if you like this area you should try Rutledge Falls or Machine Falls out. They make for some nice outings.

Thanks for the recommendations on RF and Machine Falls (I dare not initial that one!) I have many great memories of OSFP though, and wish I could visit there more often. However, I pastor a church in the Gulfport, MS area and get to spend very little time in Tennessee. Boy, do I miss the "Three Great States of Tennessee."

Really?
1) I have been a UT fan for about 50 years, and have followed the program closely.
2) When Fulmer and Kiffen were HC, I swapped emails with them from time-to time.
3) I have emailed Dooley several times.
4) Also, while Mike Hamilton was AD, we swapped emails regularly (especially concerning the firing of Fulmer, hiring of Liar Kiffen, and the hiring of Dooley).
5) I have also emailed Dave Hart, but he has never shown the courtesy of returning a single communication - though I have always shown respect and civility in my emails to him. I'm not bad-mouthing Hart, just stating facts.

Now, what do you know about the situation after Kiffen's departure that no one else could possibly know???

By the way, Vonore, TN is a beautiful area. I grew up in the Cleveland,TN area.... and love the Big Orange as much as anyone. Go Vols ><>

How does Kiffin feel about you spelling his name wrong?

That was a rhetorical question. He tells me he can't stand you when I see him at Thursday night poker

Coffee County is a wonderful area. Love that park. BTW, every been deer hunting in Maury County? That's my favorite place to hunt.

No, I haven't hunted in Maury Country, but its a beautiful area... like all of Tennessee. I pastor a church in the Gulfport, Mississippi area and don't get to return to TN as much as I'd like. Maybe someday I can/will be called to a church in Tennessee. That would be a real blessing! ><>

Our class this year is already mediocre. Most of the players Dooley has landed are easily replaceable.

Our recruiting class could be much better, but they are currently ranked at # 23 by Rivals.com. However, I do not understand some of Dooley's offers, especially to two star and not rated prospects.

+1

Kind of sets fans up for future excuses. "We are just not as talented as other SEC teams". If you keep signing 2 star recruits with their only other offer being North Dakota State, the talent will always be an excuse.

Kiffin hates me anyway... especially when I told him about how I felt about the way he left UT in such a lurch. Although I don't like him, he has done a pretty good job at USC (give credit where credit is due...). However, the misspelling was a typo. My fingers sometimes try to type faster than my feeble old brain can transfer thought to them. Anyway, GO VOLS!!!

When you play this Thursday night, beat him good, and tell him I still hate the way he left our program in such a mess. Ha-ha... ><>

Just seen a guys post that Haslem has offered Gruden 5 years deal worth 31.5 million and if Dooley loses big this saturday that he is gone.
TIFWIW

I can't believe some of the people here want the Big Orange to lose Saturday because they think it will mean Dooley will be fired. I don't care who is coach of the Vols, I will ALWAYS want the Vols to win.

I am also a poster on VQ.COM and there is a very reliable poster over there that when he mentions something, he is normally correct. He stated that if Dooley loses to SC Haslam has agreed to pay Dooley's buyout and the first years salary to our new head coach. If they lose to SC Dooley will be fired on Sunday or Monday. Take it all as you wish. :hi:

just news i thought i'd pass on...Gruden is not going to be the next coach ..nor is Bellotti...both have plush, high paying gigs and don,t want the headaches of a over-patient fan base...next Charlie Strong ..has Louisville playing decent ball..not going to come to Tn..and listen to fans calling for his head after 2 years...Peterson..not leaving Boise...Mullen not leaving Miss. State...Petrino...UT would never hire him..would lose more by doing so...now we get to Butch Davis......or maybe Cutcliffe....don't think either want to risk two years and this fan base ready to back the moving truck up to their door....so who is this NEXT coach...if you want to help recruit...stay off these boards.....

Welcome to three days ago.

If we fire dooley after SC be ready to lose to Mzoo Vandy and maybe Kentucky..........

atleast let him finish the season.......he has earned that much

Good news if true.

Wish we could roll back the clock and do a few things differently, keeping him out of Knoxville in the first place. If we had a competent AD at the time, I think we could have gotten an A+ hire.

I still don't understand how Gruden is an A+ pick. he wins a Ring with an Inherited Bucs team and then gets fired a couple years later. I'd say he's about as proven as Muschamp is right now with his Inherited team.

What about the team he built in Oakland that he beat in the Super Bowl? Grudens NFL record is just as good as most of the coaches coaching there today.

Let's be clear... The poster is saying Haslam has agreed to pay, should we lose to SC, the full $9.355 million in termination buyouts -- $5.645 million guaranteed buyouts to Dooley and Chaney and the $3.71 million in conditional buyouts to the other assistants + the $3.5 to $5 million for the so-called "name coach", thereby committing to provide a total somewhere between $12.8 to $14.3 million for a new coach. Is this Haslam's agreement?

Buying out Derek Dooley and staff could cost as much as $9.3 million over four years » GoVolsXtra

Ohhhhh Nooooos....Tennessee can't hire nobody, nobody wants to come here... Give me a ****in break!

The buzz alone around a Gruden Hire would be enough to stack the deck in his favor. I am sure he is at least a decent coach regardless of what he inherited at TB. A decent coach with a few top 5 recruiting classes should get us down the road...

I have not actually confirmed for myself but ant Grudden suppossed to be making $4m a year in his cushy job with ESPN?? He would be crazy to take a real job with TN (unless of course he has all the money he needs/wants and looking for a new challenge)

Watch Dooley beat SC and win out (including the bowl) because VolNation wants him fired now lol

I honestly don't see the upside of doing this during the season. Why not let the team finish the season, then make a change if we feel it best. It's not like the new guy is going to start next Monday, and we are miraculously going to turn the season around

The though is that it will give us a heads up on the other teams to get rid of their coach. Also the thought that he can nail down his own recruits and keep the class together.

If you (or he) end up being right, you'll create a mass exodus from VN to VQ.

You probably broke some hearts.

This is factually possible

Yup, a loss to SC is probable. However,

1) a loss to MO (they should have some injured players back, among them, their QB for this game)
2) Vandy (they have been playing better than in past years lately,
3) and/or Ky (they played GA very hard this past Saturday)

is possible. And,
4) Troy is not playing all that badly this year... but we should beat them easily.

If the team does not "win out" after the SC game, the fan base and "prominent donors" will be screaming for Dooley's departure.

I hate it that its come to this point, but there it is...
I think theyre already screaming...
