Why is it that I keep noticing people who claim to be fans of the University of Tennessee Football team, constantly talking down our team, coach, and other fans?? Now, I know that we have been down, and I know that we haven't had much to celebrate, but it's almost football season and I feel like there is a much bigger majority that is going to be taking a normal prescription of Xanax this season. It doesn't bother me, but honestly, we need a lot of help this year and next, and just trying to keep a somewhat positive vibe around the football program is going to be big on helping keep these coaches and players fixed on the goal of doing well on the field. If they feel like we have given up on them, what's to stop them from giving up themselves?? I remember when Tennessee Football used to be the talk of the town, and people just got goosebumps thinking about football season. I still do myself, but nowadays, I feel like people have other agendas. Maybe it's just here on the messages boards, maybe not, but I would tend to think our team would love to know that we actually supported them and their coaches.

It's football time in Tennessee now people, get with it.

Because they have an inferiority complex. Actually, it's just one main one but he/she has underlings that carry out his/her bidding.

It won't determine anything, but the message board is becoming the staple of communication for the common fan, and news outlets pay a lot of attention to them to try and gauge the pulse of the fanbase.

Realism hurts. I used to be the optimist but end of Fulmer era changed that. Every time I got excited I was let down. Bammers had the same issue, If Dooley does half of what Saban has done at Bama. Then we will be optimist again.

Getting frustrated with the state of the program is ok.

Tempering expectations during the offseason is ok.

Once training camp opens, guess what, I am a vol and believe we have a shot at each and every game.

Sure, I would love to be better or have 85 scholorships, but I will support my team and my players and bleed orange till I can bleed no more.

Its football time now, so enough of the critisism and questioning of the administration.

Now I focus on letting my fandom take over and supporting my team.

In my time on this board there has always been a contingent of Negative Nancys. They come and go. The solid contributors tend to stick around.

I think a better question is why so many posters like you are unwilling to actually understand the nature of the criticism. It's as if we must live in a fantasy world or else our realism might curse our team.

It's just the board. The fans at the spring game restored my hope in this fan base. As much as I can't stand the old folks who never cheer and always sit, I do love the fact that there are folks in our base that will always be a Vol no matter what...period. Up or down some of us will always support the Vols.

I can't wait until Sept. 4th. It's gonna be on. Go Big Orange

I'm excited about ut football. I overlook most of the negative stuff posted. I've always been a true believer in staying positive and not being critical of every little tid bit. I enjoy being a ut fan. Why waste my life being down or negative about it. I just don't see the point in it.

I agree with you fully! But I will say a fan base that wasn't as passionate as this one wouldn't spend hours and hours on here complaining.

I can't shake the feeling that this team is going have a chip on it's shoulder and play above their heads. I am not saying the team is going undefeated or anything like that .
I just feel like they have been backed into a corner the last few years and they are ready to come out swinging. They may not win them all but nobody is leaving without at least a bloody nose.
