Junior Finished?

I can see them running well at Talladega and the spin will then be, "Oh look, they ran well at Talladega, everything is OK after all."

Because obviously Talladega is a fantastic indicator of how you're going to run at Darlington, Richmond, Charlotte, and so on...

Yeah, ask M. Waltrip.

Jr missed his pit box again today in the nationwide race... unbelieveable

I saw that...maybe it's Jr and not the crew that's messing up each week. I mean, it is a different crew for the Busch race, right? The man is obviously just not focused!

and of course Jr had a good run at 'dega.. just enough to keep Eury around a little longer

I like Jr but seriously doubt he would ever be mentioned nowadays had he not had such a famous Nascar dad.

i like Jr as well, he just seems laid back, and a guy that i'd have a beer with. i didn't even follow nascar that much before his dad died. so i don't like him bc of his dad. Jr and Smoke are my fav. always wished they'd team together

Jr. is not my favorite driver, but I do like him. That being said, I believe he is terribly overrated. Some guys can't make that leap from Nationwide to Sprint. He was awesome in the AC Delco ride, showed some promise in the Bud car early on, then just fell off the face of the earth. I can imagine the death of Sr. took it's toll on him, and maybe he doesn't give it his all because of that. Bottom line, if you can't win in Hendrick machinery, you probably aren't gonna win in anything else.

Jr. - the most famous person in any sport to never really win anything. He has the largest fan base I've ever seen.. it's crazy. Must be torture - don't see him ever winning a championship.

Well Mark Martin just announced he's going to run full time for Hendrick next year.. Im going to predict a crew chief swap between the #5 and #88 now that they know Martin is coming back next year

I don't see them touching the other 3 teams. They are running too good. It will be interesting to see how long Hendrick sticks with Eury Jr though.

I know Hendrick plays a big role in Stewart-Haas Racing like Roush does with Yates but he should have kept Grubb in one of his garages. I would take Grubb in a second over Eury Jr.

I wonder if Brian Whitesell can make the call for a crew chief swap since he is the team manager of the 5 and 88? Probably has to come from Hendrick himself.

I dont really think they'll swap the #5 and #88 crew chiefs, I was just tryin to stir up some conversation since the nascar forum has been pretty slow. I agree with the Darian Grubb statement, Hendrick has to be kicking himself for letting him get away. It really wouldnt surprise me if they did make the switch, but Id feel bad for Mark if it did happen. Hendrick has already denied that they're going to switch them, so I guess Eury Jr will get the rest of the season to make bad decisions

If they are out of the chase contention they will probably make a change to get a head start on next year. With the no testing policy, the driver and crew chief will need the track time together to adjust to each other.

I would say he would make a recommendation to Hendrick. My curiosity is how much say, if any, does Junior have in a crew chief change? He has been quoted more than once saying Eury is the man for the forseeable future.

There was an article in Florida Today on Jr and asked pretty much the same question. Of the 4 Hendrick drivers, Jr is the only one without a win-one measly 2nd place finish. I think his problem is, like most other people have said, is his cousin, Tony Eury (sp) Jr. Dale Jr., just like Kyle Petty, is no where as good as his dad. Jr is probably just an average NASCAR driver. He may be the most popular-I don't know why, but he's way over rated! Mark Martin was signed by Hendrick for 2 years and we'll compare him after 2 years as Jr is in his 2nd year. I say Jr is gone from Hendrick by the end of 2010. If Mark doesn't stay past 2010 and Jr is released, then who will be the next 2 replacements? HMS has the best team this year, overall. However JGR isn't far behind. Should HMS have kept Kyle Busch?

He's overrated because people hype him up so much - not because he's not a good driver. He has his moments - but isn't a top 5 driver or anything.

I believe most who know NASCAR racing would rate Dale, Jr above Kyle Petty, but your analogy is correct. I would be surprised to see him leave HMS after 2010, but anything is possible. Mark Martin signing full time for HMS surprised me. I believe Mark will be replaced by a young development driver. HMS has plenty of veterans, and needs to bring on a young gun type. Kyle Busch says no to your question.

Mark will be replaced by Landon Cassill maybe. I just don't think that Brad will wait it out in the Nationwide series for another year when he will be receiving numerous offers from decent Cup rides.
