What I'm saying is if his name were not Earnhardt, he probably would not be a racer at all. If he were he would not likely even make it to the Busch Series. If he did make the Busch series it would not have been in that quality of equipment. There are a lot of talented drivers who never get into any of the three touring series.

i think he has the talent, i just don't think he's competitive enough. if you don't have the drive then whats the use. if he really had the drive he'd get rid of Eury Jr. plain and simple

I question whether his head is fully in it. He has a lot of outside stuff going on. Probably a question of what he really wants, money is no issue. Does he want a title bad enough to concentrate soley on racing. I kind of think the money has lessoned his desire too dedicate himself fully.

Of course, if his last name was Smith or Brown instead of Earnhardt, he wouldn't have the huge expectations and he'd probably be viewed as a decent driver having won 18 races.

I was just being sarcastic. I do have some friends that are Jr fans (and were die-hard Sr fans) that have blinders on and think he could walk on water. Nothing is ever his fault.
I completely agree with your statement about his last name getting him where he is today.:thumbsup:

True, but that's just how some fans are, no matter who their favorite driver or team is. It's unfortunately a lot more noticeable from Jr. fans because there are so many of them to begin with. If you look hard enough, you'll find that every driver has fans that are positive their guy has never made a mistake.

did anyone else just see Dale Jr spin Casey Mears on the cool down lap? Casey then came back and rear-ended Jr 3-4 times.. did Casey have something to do with Jr spinning late in the race? i missed it.. doing something like that shows me that the pressure/frustration is gettin to Jr (esp. with Martin winning)

Yeah, Mears put him in the wall, although it appeared to be unintentional.

It didn't really matter, Jr. was fading through the field and was going to have to pit again for fuel anyway while everyone else stayed out. Just another mediocre day at the track for the #88 team.

funny he was second in leading laps. his car was ridiculously loose after their last pit stop. idk wtf it is w/ them, seems like their last pit stops they make the car terrible.

most everybody who got out front stayed out front so it's no surprise to me that Junior was able to do the same. they made a good call to get him the track position but unfortunately, the cautions didn't work out for him.

i thought he could have still come home in the top 10.

Exactly. That was after all the same car that on the previous run couldn't get by Paul Menard and Joey Logano while running in 34th.

I look for there to be an increased effort in qualifying as it seems that at many tracks being up front is such an advantage. Not so much this week at Talladega.
