Juneteenth

You can't tell me a teacher is within his/her legal rights to teach about Juneteenth, because of the vagueness of the law.

Until you can point to a state law making the teaching of juneteenth against the law, your screenshot is a fabrication at best and a lie at worst.

You are giving yourself latitude that you would have never given someone else 5 years ago.

If the answer to "is it legal to talk about Juneteenth?" is it depends on what is said and how it is received, then wtf are we arguing about here? A fkn meme? How about we argue for more freedom.
Since you are the originator to the current argument, I humbly suggest you try posting screenshots that are based in fact and advocate for more freedom. I bet I receive it better.

Next time I'll caption it with my full take.

Not that any of you fkn care at all that the truth lies in a precarious place. We can take the time to establish it's a bad truth, but you'll stay in the past and only care about the absolute veracity of the screenshot that has veen clarified.

A teacher in TN doesn't know if she'd be breaking the law by teaching about Juneteenth. Hell, it'd be bad enough to just deal with an accusation.

Yeah, I knew it was a partial truth but you're underselling the laws.

Since teachers aren't entirely sure what they can teach about CRT, it's effectively a ban on Juneteenth for those not willing to risk it.

In TN, you're not allowed to talk about race stuff that will cause guilt. So that seems vague enough to be a ban on Juneteenth.

You don’t need crt to teach the emancipation proclamation. They never teach/taught how black people sold their own people into slavery either but I’m sure you only reference the 1619 bs.

I am fond of you as a poster and someone I've communicated with off the board. Perhaps VN is your cathartic place to vent the frustrations and loathing for all things political. I hope in whatever way, posting here serves you in a good way. Politically, America isn't getting better. And it shows no sign of improvement. I am sure you already do this, but try to focus on you and your family's peace and contentment. Constant disgruntlement and anger is harmful.

My family life is great, except for my sister who got laid off because of the trade war with China and my brother-in-law who is a legal immigrant but is living in fear that he can get picked up at any time.

It's an outright lie because the number isn't 15? How is it an outright lie?

If you can't teach stuff about race that causes guilt, can you even teach about slavery? You're putting yourself at risk

I remember when you were against vague laws that limited freedom.

And I made these points about the vagueness of laws when we were banning CRT
Teach about guilt all you want FOR THE PEOPLE GUILTY. Do NOT make a child today feel that they are responsible for any of that guilt simply because they have a different skin pigment density. Then vs now.
Why is that a difficult concept for so many people?

You’re either pregnant or you aren’t

So the law is never unclear? This biological metaphor doesn't work.

I am 100% positive that the people arguing with me right now would be with me if I were talking about unclear and vague gun restrictions as an effective ban.

Which amendment covers junetenth? I mean we have the 13th amendment and I’m sure they teach that in school. Why do you feel schools need to teach made up holidays and ridiculous racial agendas?

Either it is a truth or it isn’t. Misinformation and partial truths are lies no matter how much you rationalize using them.

My initial response to you admitted that it was a partial truth, so what is the problem? I owned it. Why can't we move past it?

You act like I'm trying to hide something or defend something that I didn't already admit to. The fact that we are 15-20 posts into this and you guys refuse to speak on anything other than the truthiness of the original screenshot is fkn bananas.

And this type of post oversight and criticism is directed toward left leaning posts and posters 95% of the time.

Even that is not true.
Quick question - is a woman pregnant the instant sperm penetrates the egg?
I think most people would say it begins when the fertilitized egg attaches to the wall of the uterus. That is when the woman’s body becomes life support for the unborn child.

Most people maybe, but certainly not all. There are many who claim it's the instant the egg is fertilized.

Disgusting? That says a TON about you, you don't realize, LOL.

Every holiday is made up. You're just mad that they made one up for the freeing of the slaves.

Juneteenth has been observed by some Americans since 1866.

If that's true it would be on January 1st.

We don’t care about the truth so it’s ok for you to not tell it…../

But they can teach about slavery......... I think the point with these laws is attempting to be proactive against hurtful roleplay and various other "learning exercises" idiots in other parts of the country have pulled.

Why aren't teachers sticking to lesson plans anyway? This is already approved curriculum and much of it covers controversial and established hurtful and horrifying subject matter.

I do not understand why we think teachers need to be stumping instead of teaching what they've been required by their state.

There literally zero way to cover every topic and appease every affinity group out there.
