The structure that holds the screen is 42 feet high by 132 feet long, built on pylons. For those who can't see the screen from their seats, 66 monitors are placed around the bottom of the upper deck. And for those fans with a sense of history who cherished the old Vols sign atop the south end zone, a similar display crowns the JumboTron. The JumboTron was put up and running Sept. 4, 1999 for the first time at the Wyoming game."

As long as the get rid of the Panama City airbrushed T on the back side of the jumbotron, I'm OK with a 25" LCD monitor.

If these dimensions are correct, to put a screen equal to the Texas one, you need to add 2 feet on to either side, and then make it 39 feet taller! Beacuse the Texas one is 81 feet tall and 136 feet wide.

Can you imagine how huge that thing would be? It would be almost double the height of the current one! WOW!

I say we can make it bigger though, about 90 feet tall by 160 feet wide should be big enough right?

If you build it, they will pay!

but, I just checked, and I think that you would have to be 250 feet away from my screen for optimal viewing... DARN!

So, do we have anything concrete about this new Jumbotron or is it all speculation? If it's true, I can't wait to see the replays in HD, that'll be sick and that's just another reason why Neyland continues to be one of the best venues in college football!

speculation>>>>>>> Not anymore.
I work for a contractor at neyland ' i got a call from a sign company needing someone to black out the back side & bottom and the end's of the structure. so the new Jumbotron can be installed. it will be installed late April early may

I will follow up with detail's.

NO FLIPPIN WAY!!! This is going to be so amazingly redonkulous.

the texas one is 134 ft wide and 55 tall. the structure is 136 ft wide - don't know what the 81 ft is (maybe from the top of the stands to the top of the antenna on that shack on top of it).

Yeah, I looked at the caption, not the article... sorry

Maybe it isn't as far fetched, 81 feet seemed rediculous.
